We made blocks out of 1/2 gallon milk cartons. We took 2 of them, cut the tops off, filled them with newspaper, shoved one over the other and taped them together. BIG Lego's! We had a lot of them, and you could build anything.

As a kid I had hundreds of Hotwheels and would spend hours having races on those orange put together tracks.

Geez... I was expecting the OP to be some old stuff.
Didn't even recognize the first item, I remember Pogs... but I was expecting stuff like lawn darts (see above), steel fire engine pedal cars, TONKA TRUCKS!!!!! Hot Wheels (the originals like "Splitten Image" "Light my Firebird" "Python")... Cracker Jacks when the "surprise" was an actual toy (sure, it was cheap, but it wasn't a paper joke or "coloring book"), erector sets, Radio Shack 1001 Project kits...

You know... stuff from when most "electronics" still had tubes, only doctors had pagers, and only top-level executives had "car phones" (went through a mobile operator to make the call), and our house phone was ONE phone... hardwired to the wall.
We got home from school, changed, and went out to ride bikes and maybe jump trash cans. We knew that we'd better be home for dinner at 5:30 or Tony's mom would be getting a phone call, and if mom picked up the phone... well... you'd rather eat it jumping those trash cans than face mom 10 minutes late for dinner!

And if you did eat it jumping those trash cans, if you could walk, you were fine. You didn't go cry pussy boy home and have mommy take you to urgent care, because there was no urgent care and there was no "copay". A trip to the ER cost $200 because dad's insurance covered 80%.

    Okay... I'm old.
