You have to pretty much throw everything away in the house... I just don't understand how people live in those environments...

When I was in college, I worked in rental turn-over maintenance for a few years and you wouldn't believe the shape some of those places were in. I realize that some hoarders have real psychological issues but many are just lazy no-accounts that can't be bothered to even take a bag of trash out to a dumpster. I got to go in after these people died to try and make the places habitable for the next tenant. One trailer house was so bad that after I had worked on it for a week I gave up and the owner just hauled it out in the middle of a field and burned it.

What really made me mad was that she kept "justifying" why the house was so dirty by blaming her kids.

That show makes me ill. My mom is a hoarder. Not at that level but bad enough I gave up and moved out. There's nothing you can do; if you clean something and go to work/school the next day, by the time you get home it looks like nothing happened. I remember my parents went out of town one weekend and I spent 10 hours cleaning the kitchen and another 8 hours in the living room. I can clean my entire house in a couple hours- imagine spending 10 hours on one room! They came home and by Wednesday all evidence that I had cleaned anything was gone.

And if you try to clean it's a fight for MONTHS. Every time mom can't find something- which is constant because of all the crap laying around- you get blamed because you tried to clean last month. I mean cussing, screaming, belittling comments because you threw away old newspapers, or cleaned moldy leftovers out of the refrigerator.

And yep, never her fault. "I told her to take out the trash." "I asked that someone clean this up." "I can't [whatever] because of my arthritis." "I was busy and [whoever] said they'd do it later." My mom and this lady should get together and go bowling... but that's probably too much work for either of them. I'm 90% convinced growing up in that house is why I am allergic to bloody everything. All the dust and mold I was constantly breathing in. All the roaches abd mice and cobwebs. And forget a social life. You can't bring friends home, or a sig other. And why would you want to?

I'll admit I'm probably a little on the OCD cleaning side of things. It was weird learning to clean at 18 years old because I was never taught at home. Ugh. Ok, I'll stop ranting now. I hate that show. But it's like a train wreck, I always stop to watch it. I feel so sorry for the families, especially the kids.

I don't really believe in this hoarding thing. I do agree some of these people have severe psychological issues, but most of the other people on that show are just fat lazy slobs.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I could see myself having a problem hoarding cars or motorcycles though haha, but guess that would not be a bad thing.

    BULLDOZER

1 - Dad should've claimed custody of the kids to get them out, period. Leaving them there so that she could collect a check, are you serious?
2 - Kids should declare emancipation and GTFO

I noticed how she can sit around and claim she can't do shit, but when the lady got in her face about the safety of the people in the house, big mama got right up and huffed on down the driveway.

"HEY, why not carry a bag of trash to the curb while you're at it?!"

And those little particle masks they're wearing - no sir - a respirator would be on my face, period.

Then again, bulldozer - and call it a day!

I saw a pic of a Camry not long ago. Car was on the bump stops, solid. Trunk had to be full, but visible was the back seat and passenger seat - papers, magazines, boxes, stuff, etc - packed full.

Some gasoline and a match would do wonders to that house...

x2. I saw one of those not long ago and the house was so bad the ceiling was caving in. The lady actually had two houses and they were both like that.
