New tattoo cracking

I got my tattoo Wednesday 3/21. It scabbed up really heavy 2 days after which I expected. I just kept the lotion on it like he recommended and didn't pick at all. The scabs started coming off. But the other morning I woke up to what looked like large gashes. Will these heal normally or should I be concerned? He told me to give it a few more weeks and see what it does. Opinions?

looks like he hamburgered the fuck out of your skin. usually that's the artists fault from being to rough with your skin, digging to deep, etc. it might heal up better, but it might end up looking a little weird.

 

He was way tooo deep with the needles. It might heal okay. Just keep it out of the sun.

 

Bacitracin is your friend. (almost as good as the goop in Hunger Games)

 

OP, what's the shop's policy for touch ups? Free within 30 days or something like that?

Worse case, if there's some light spots in the blue coloring - just go back for a touch up.

He gouged you good. Scabs might leave a little mark but you're arm won't fall off. Just keep it clean. I had a guy go just a little too deep and had to go into Coronado bay a bit later and small marks turned into permanent scarring.

Basically it was the artists fault, but it happens and his work looks pretty good otherwise. Just let it heal and ask him to touch up if there's anything real noticeable

 

Ya, what they said. But in addition. If the artist is a good one, they usually give free touch ups. If they have a time limit, you should talk to him soon about getting it touched up when it is fully healed for free even if it is after the time limit. If they hit those spots again before they are completely healed, it will just be a waste because all it will do is push the dead skin deeper and possibly get infected/make it worse.

 

You all are confirming what I thought. At least it will heal decently. They're a really reputable shop so touch ups shouldn't be an issue. I got bacitracin and began using it after the gouges developed and they do look better than they did. Definitely decreasing in size. He said all he recommends is non scented lotion but oh well.

I've always used Lubriderm...and it is not uncommon for mine to look like that when they heal. They all turned out fine though.

 

non scented lotion and make sure its not vasaline. and the baby ointment A and D lotion works good too. and make sure he touches it up without charging you

 

i had this same thing happen and i ended up with holes in my tat. it took a long time to the scar tissue to get to the point it could be touched up. i do not think it would have taken so long but i ask the original guy to do the touch up after only a couple of weeks and that just made it worse. let it heal fully (like 6 weeks at least) then go back in.

 

Same thing happened to me. Some parts were done way to deep. I scabbed and blead. Once everything healed, those spots were lighter than everything else. I would definitely keep an eye out and head back for a touchup once it heals.

 

Definitely use the Lubriderm non-scented. I apply it every 5-6 hours during the 1st 2-weeks then back off from there. Not sure if it's my monitor or not but your skin looks dry as it is. That will make the healing and post-tattoo after effects worse.

 

The deep scabs will have to be touched up later.

 

ive always used a+d ointment it works the best. with lotion you have to put more of it on during the day. the tattoo has to stay moist to prevent it from scabbing because the scab just sucks out alot of the ink. i got one the 29th nd its already pretty much healed

 

You're definitely going to need a touch up, just a matter of when. You can see the areas around the scabs look light. That'll fade fast with sun, so better to have it touched up now while it should be free.
