Actually, the AMC Eagle did pretty well in the market place in its day. Considering it was before many manufactures had entered the SUV game...and most were bought in snow country states.

I thought about one back then when I lived up Yankee way back in the 80's...but splurged and went with a Jeep Cherokee instead.

Irony, the Jeep was part of AMC at that time...but had GM power and trans.

I had a Vega, so don't feel alone in your shame. :D

    Yes, a classic 30 y/o Chebby I would own...

    but probably not the 6 thousand dollar variety. A 6K 30 y/o Chevelle/Camaro/Corvette...is not a car....it's a parts bin.

I owned three 4WD Subaru Wagons ('77.5, '80, '87), after I sold my Jeep. They were amazing and got 25 mpg, too.

Here is my first one on the beach in Baja, 1978... yah, I was 20 when the picture was taken, lol!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I haven't owned one of those, but have an 80 CJ5 with the 258 inline six which is what I am sure that Eagle has and it is a very durable, reliable motor. That one in my Jeep has taken a lot of beatings that would kill most engines.

Well the front was about a Inch lower, but the trailing arms i believe where a touch lower than the cvs.. It had 13 1/2" under the rear diff! Thats only on 28" swampers!

AMC eagles are good car's. like mentioned before, alot of jeep parts. i have a 258 straight 6 in my old jeep, carb kept leaking even after rebuild... i think the eagles are all time 4wd...

get a 2 door if you can... way more sporty

That distinctive pinstriping...and the uncanny ability to switch from 2wd to 4wd, makes me want to run right out and by one today. :D
