I really want one of those, well the BRZ actually.. the couple extra touches like climate control and heated seats make a big difference for me.

Too bad boxer engines are painfully shitty to work on.

my wife has a BRZ on order, comes in in march/april. . can't wait!! :D

HUH?? I've owned 8 subies in my life (three at present time) I'd love to see you change the alternator, starter, oil, on another car faster. Each one of those I have done in under 10mins.

That being said the plugs/valve cover gaskets can be a bit of a buggar. . they take 30-45 min

i totally agree on this & you cant boost the motor with reliability bc of the rod design unlike a true wrx/sti motor. Even the BRZ is a waste to me being a subie lover/owner. Toyota really needed to make this car for their young demographic & lack of a true decent mpg rear-drive coupe, not Subaru. IMHO, If you really have the flow (cash), buy an EVO IX & be the happiest of all crowds.

there are plenty of people over on ft86club.com that have boosted this engine for pretty good results.

this was a complete toyota designed car. they wanted to use the boxer engine for a lower center of gravity. subaru wanted a version of the car too after they saw what it was going to capable of and toyota said sure, but your going to build the whole thing. this car was never designed for huge HP numbers. it was designed to be a great car to drive and toyota/subaru did just that

Any which ones do you toast more often? starters or spark plugs?

Changing oil is a miserable experience, because you have to reach your arm up into a hell-hole of fire and anguish and hope to god you dont burn the fuck out of yourself trying to unscrew the oil filter.

Every Subaru i've played with has proven that instead of making simple maintenance easy, they say fuck you, and make the shit that never needs replacing, easy to do.
