Theres no need to stay away from it. androidcentral.com has everything you need to know and step by step ways to root. It may take a while to learn everything but once you do you will be happy you do :)

The major ones are it voids your warranty, and if you mess up at certain parts you can brick(make you phone useless other then for a paper weight, hence the nickname 'brick') your phone

3" Procomp lift, 285/70 R17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on Procomp series 6005 wheels, Fog lights on Anytime mod, illuminated oem fog switch, bed mat, all weather floormats, CB Radio in dash, alternating turn signal mod, automatic center console light. Blacked out badges, D2s in the grille.
Haven't rooted one of those. Looks like neat phone.
X10,000! Research the hell out of it, know what to do before you start. Download ALL nessesary files beforehand.
Understand that you may (very unlikely) end up with an expensive paperweight if you mess up. And you may loose your warranty. IMO few risks many benefits!

i'm sure you wont, once you learn terms and what you will actually be doing it makes it really easy. and if you end up messing up the forums at androidcentral(yes, I'm saying the site a lot, its very good!) they will help you.

    Always!

This is my first smartphone to have, but I love it. CSpire showed me an iphone but they asked if I used alot of apple products and I don't so they recommended an android and I like the bigger screen.

Really? Lol, I dont think verizon would do that:D I think as long as you are running stock ROM you are ok
I think yes. Much more customizable, you can load custom ROMs for your personality/likes, make it much faster, etc, etc.

    Ahhh Apple?
One of the main reasons I root is for the WirelesTeather app. Use you data connection on your phone as a mobile hotspot for other devices. I'm ny application 4G internet to my laptop/wii live streaming with no buffering. Native screenshot capabilities, remove bloatware, increased battery life. Overclock/underclock CPU. Total customization of everything.

The only thing I noticed is my battery drains pretty bad, but of course I use mine ALOT so I don't know if it's just that or an app that I have in it. It appears that it's draining more than when I first got it. I know I get on TW on it and it seems to drain fast and if I send very many facebook messages it does.

With rooting you can make your phone more battery efficient. I know when I put on a new ROM (CM7(CyanogenMod 7(I highly reccommend it)))

Internet usage kills bettery on an Android like I kill ants, or Chris with spiders

That would be nice with my laptop. I think I saw on CSpire site where you could pay to use a phone as a modem/hotspot. I have everything unlimited on my phone, calls, text, pics, web, email.. I don't have fully unlimited video but I haven't needed it. I get 30 minutes free every month. http://www.cspire.com/mobile/
