    LOL I like this idea but I would suggest a nice scoped .22 lr and start with the extremities :} Alas the American Criminal Liberties Union would have a problem with this :{

    Mall ninjas arguing about staying and fighting a gunman..... Wow. One of them happens to be a cop! I'm sure we aren't as trained as a high speed copper but some of us have been to a training event or two.....

    Yeah I know but there is not a prison sentence that will give anyone satisifaction though, Co has a death sentence it has not been carried out since 1997. I refer to the ACLU that way as they come down on the wrong side of things pretty often. Atleast in my opinion and since I have to deal with the outcome of some of thier actions my opinion is not likely to change. I know they do good too but just not as often in my book. :{

    I'm inclined to agree with sportster, action is better then no action. The chance of lessening the loss of life versus accidently taking one.. well, thats a life decision you have to make if your in that moment.

    This leads me to believe you may not be sure how you would act in the situation, I have a hard time believing that you would consciously shoot into a crowded smokey movie theater, especially with no real experience in the situation.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims families. It's a shame 1 scum bag can make millions of gun owners look bad.

    I don't want to get into the CCW debate, as we each have our own opinions, but I agree with BT. Some type of action IMHO would be better than nothing. Personally if I was at a place where something like this happened and I didn't do anything, I would feel ashamed. We don't have the full story yet, and all the deatils will shurley come out with time.

    At this point all that is important is that those who are hurting or mourning deserve our full respect and compassion.

    Which I totally understand and respect your opinion on. I simply hate when something like this happens, and the first thing someone wants to do is take the persons life in a cruel or violent manner. Don't get me wrong, I think what he did was horrific, and I feel that he should pay, and that the laws should be followed. I just don't advocate torture, for anyone.

    and if there were a person in the theater with a CCW who was able to kill this guy and prevent more casualties we would all be sitting here saying "this is why we have our right to bear arms, this is why every state should allow concealed carry. blah blah blah"

    just sayin.

    ..a tragic reminder of how vulnerable you are in a setting such as this - consider it was a night, plus i can imagine the disarray and confusion caused by the soundsystem, ..probably took a while to realize what was going on?...

    my initial assumption is the theatre was a CPZ (not confirmed, but still trying to find out), and so, it was likely a guaranteed "fish in the barrel" for the perp... i don't think an armed citizen or security guard would've made it any worse, ...but "may" have been able to make it better.... i.e. the difference being a cornered cat, vs. being an armed cornered cat...

    you can trade off what-ifs all day long, ...but you never really know... most people in that theatre, like most americans, were probably in condition white - i.e. pretty much oblivious to the "chance", however so slight (which may be very remote, but does happen) that something horrible go happen to "them"...

    ...me, ...i don't go to movie theatres, and i don't go to CPZs, willingly... so, am i "paranoid", or just a little more pragmatic? ;)
