I work in a boat yard dealing almost exclusively with sailboats and you can get a new mast either off another boat (used) or from www.dwyermast.com which is where i get a lot of parts from. Shipping is gonna be about $100 on a $150 mast which sucks. The shrouds and other rigging aren't too much for a boat that size. But as long as you can get a new mast you can get hardware to re-use your current shrouds if you need to.

Another option that I have done for friends but would never do for something that I can be held liable for is just sleeve the mast. Cut out the damaged section and get a piece of another smaller mast and just slip it inside of your mast and screw or rivit it to your other mast. You may loose a few inches of lenght but its an easy and cheap way to repair it

You can fix it! Trust me. Bend it back, get some flat iron, and attach the flat iron to the part that bent for reinforcment. Good as new!

Meh....then again, I destroyed a perfectly good vaccume.

That's what I said. Any new construction going on in the neighborhood? Street light/parking light poles are now more composite than before and stand up well to winds and wind loads. Hmmmmmmm. Have the "Cop" here run interference for ya.

Good thing I reread Chris' post. I thought he said "get A flat iron". I can see you now in the driveway with your mast and sheets with a little spray starch.

1 c 2 u and no e. Just a little code for Chris to crack

That's not a problem, there are plenty of easy ways to make your mast longer and more erect. I get offers for it all the time in my Email. :D

I bet your e-mail is full of sailing/sexual innuendos.

Probably something to do with seaman and leaning to far over.

yeah, except the side with teh "trech" is a little flatter so it's more of a teardrop shape than perfectly round

Hey Captain Stubbing, Maybe once you get the mast fixed you could get the Professor to make you a radio out of coconuts and Mary-Ann could whip up a banana-creme pie for ya.

thanks for your input. we would probably try to replace it with a used one if possible. we dont wanna spring for a new one and i'm a little skeptical of our ability to repair this one. btw, whats a shroud?

why dont you come on out to SC and fix it for me. you helped out Maura so i'm sure you dont mind helping me out with my boat. why dont you bring along a turbocharged saw with you to cut the mast.... i'll be watching you work from inside my house:p

i'm afraid to take Chris's advice.... it seems like i'll either hurt myself or somehow piss off my girlfriend to the point where she will hurt me. and i dont have a motorcycle helmet :)

you work with aluminum. how bout fabbing me up a new mast. i cant be bothered with the details of going out and getting exact measurements but just do the best you can by guessing

    just send me your mast

Well, if you do need a hand fixing the S.S. Barnacle, let me know. I'm right up the street in Columbia. I love taking a nice ride.

As once said by Jeff Spicoli: Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

I do have a Sawzall and stuff. I worked on $24 million dollar F-15s and had just as many landings as takeoffs. We'll just pretend I'm now carrier based. (Got Chris' phone number for moral support?)

We'll go by the Tacoma World Motto: "If we can't fix it, we'll fix it so no one can !!!"

Every F-15 that has ever taken off has landed or will soon since there are likely several in the air as we speak. :p
