The benefit of continued fighting is that you clear your name because you are innocent. You get to keep your prize monies, you get to keep your awards, you keep your good name (valuable name for sponsors), etc. There is a huge benefit and I am just saying, I do not agree with you that an innocent man would give up on such a fight, esp someone like Lance who doesn't give up on anything else...

Lance gave away all of his prize money from each Tour to his Teammates...

Nike and all of this other sponsors will continue their partnership

Sounds like he is sick and tired of it all and just wanted it to end

As far as I'm concerned, he still has a good name. I just hope this backfires and causes a lot of negative press for the USADA. Lance still has the victories and the momentos. Chip Foose did out a car for him, same with OCC with the 7 TdF golds as part of the design. I think he's doing what most people would have done several years ago, giving the USADA the finger and walking away.

He gave his money away, and now owes it back, not sure what your point is there lol.

You don't know what his sponsors will do, they may continue for a little while to save face but there is no way his name is not tarnished in the eyes of future sponsors and endorsements.

Let's not whistle past the grave yard, I like Lance, I've stated that, but if you look at any athlete in these kinds of positions, they never recover from the damages that are done.

    Despite the TDF issues,

he still punched cancer in the face, I think he should just come out and tell everybody what he used and if it gave him the edge over cancer awesome!!!

You know how many people suffering through chemo would try another drug that he may have taken if it helps them fight the fight loner and stronger...

I mean we knnow there is a cure for Aids, just not in the US.... Magic had to go outside the US borders to get his!!!

This is how I think it will end up. I think the public will be on his side and will absolutely discredit the USADA's findings. I think something of this magnitude could ruin them.

Yeah I missed that one too.

The most confusing part about this for me is that he wouldn't let cancer beat him, he wouldn't let anyone beat him at the TdF for like 6 straight years, but he is letting the USADA beat him without even going to an arbitration meeting??

All I know if I worked my A$$ off for all those years drug free to win 7 titles I would not just walk away. That was his life and passion and he earned those. Second he's walking away from loss of income, endorsements etc by not fighting. No one will want to touch him now. It's more than just the titles.

Everyone will always know who won the TdF 7X... Lance. Period. Screw the USADA. Just another government bureaucratic joke.

Basically the entire pro peloton was doping, and he was crushing them. Most of his serious competitors have owned up to their doping already.

Hmmmmmmm. Something does not add up here, as badass as Lance was to watch race.

Regardless of what you think of Lance Armstrong, I think most would admit he's a pretty smart guy. I think what he is looking at with USADA arbitration is pretty much a lose-lose scenario, which is why he's walking away.

USADA has a 58-2 record of successful arbitration, so just based on that Armstrong is behind the 8 ball. Best case scenario, this drags on for an extended period of time and is continually in the news cycle for a couple years like the Bonds or Clemens trials. Even at that point if everything comes out in his favor, his "brand" will be pretty damaged.

I think what this comes down to at the end of the day is a pretty savy business decision to limit damage and manage the Armstrong brand. It seems like the only way to get this business behind him sooner than later. Not to mention I'm guessing he is tired of spending tons of money, time, and effort fighting this after 14 years or however long it's been.

Exactly, seems like a never ending witch hunt to me and until they have a failed test I will be on the side of believing Armstrong.

But he didn't "just walk away". He's been fighting this for years. He's just had enough. He's only one guy fighting a seemingly never-ending battle. I give him a lot of credit for fighting as long as he has.
