Usually when you get free money from the state is because you can't challenge yourself.

Not in this case, everyone gets it. They scrape the top of the oil and gas industry and cut us in since we do all the heavy lifting up here.

Hahaha we'll see. My folks surely didn't save me any of mine growing up. I'm thinking permanent life insurance policy for her. Not so much a blessing to her, but a big one to her kids and a way I can leave a financial legacy. Still thinking through it all though.

Found this to explain why we get it. Oh and that's the jacket I'm getting ^

The Alaska Permanent Fund is a legislatively-controlled appropriation established in 1976. Shortly after the oil from Alaska’s North Slope began flowing to market through the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, the Permanent Fund was created by an amendment to the constitution of the U.S. state of Alaska to be an investment for the proceeds from the sale of these minerals. The Alaska Permanent Fund was originally envisioned to set aside a share of temporary but phenomenal oil revenues from the unique Prudhoe Bay field to continue benefiting future generations of Alaskans after the original reserves had been depleted. Many citizens also believed that the legislature had spent the $900 million bonus the state had originally received after leasing out the oil fields both too quickly and with too little result. This spurred a desire to set a share of oil revenues out of direct control by politicians who were seen as likely to spend it on wasteful operations and unnecessary capital expenditures.

Don't forget no emissions tests. Smog doesn't dig the cold. I have a job, so I wouldn't know. BUt I think everyone I know has jobs too, so it can't be that bad.

It's pretty wonderful I must say. Almost a square mile for every person here. And we get to say per capita. A lot.
