Actually up here I can only think of a handful of towns that DON'T allow them as major transportation.

A little of this and a little of that.
It was always snowmobile when I was living in upstate NY. A good way to enjoy the winter months.
On the Arctic Cat website, if you want to see the "snowmobiles", you have to click the "sleds" link.

I say snowmobile and sled interchangeably when I don't want to sound repetitive. Just like a motorcycle can also be a bike.

On a side note, the new Team Arctic jackets are sick! They finally have some solid designs.

Snowmobile, Batmobile, Automobile. These are old words. All the kids are sledding these days. The old farts in the bush have snow machines and the grumpy traditionalists are still snowmobiling, or worse, ski-dooing...

Growing up in WY I heard both snowmobile and snowmachine. Here in NV it's snowmobile or sled.

Grumpy traditionalist here. Damn I wish I was cool enough to go sledding. :(

haha...I actually fall into the same category. It is tough to look cool when you are pulling a boggan full of gear so I don't even bother trying to say sled:p .

We call them "Sleds" in Minnesota, but they are marketed as "Snowmobiles" over most of the state.

On our northwest border near Fargo I have heard people call them snowmachines...

I call them a money pit that I barely ever get to use anymore! :D
