Snowmobile? Or snowmachine?

Which is it? Might just be here in Alaska but no one says snow mobile, and yet I keep seeing it on here.

 

I hear both here in VT plus I call mine a sled...

 

^Sled, Snowmobile or most commonly for me "Ski-doo". Although I do realize that Ski-doo is a brand.

 

All three. Though seems around here snowmobile or sled. In WY I hear snowmachine a fair amount though.

 

In NY we always call them snow mobiles.

 

I'm going to call my truck the wheeled machine. The ambulance can be the flashy noisy box machine.

 

Around here it's referred to as Sleddin' on a Sled, only old guys say Snowmobile

 

thats or sleds.

i all ways call them snowmobile(s) or sleds, i guess thats because thats all i have really heard them be called, from my family and family friends in NY.

 

Up here, only the flat billed hat kids call them 'sleds'

Term actually makes me cringe because of it

I don't wear a flat billed hat but still refer to it as sledding.

Why do you think I live here?

I really want to color match my snowmachine when I get one, just not sure a white 'sled' is the safest choice, though it would look sweet in the bed of my truck

 

I hear all three names around here. Sled, snowmobile and snowmachine. I prefer sled because it is one syllable hence quick and easy to say. For the record, I wear neither a flat billed cap nor a pizza hat.
