My coworker is a friend of mine and his cousin is a cop.
They have a taser training coming up this saturday and are looking for a volunteer who isn't a cop or military, so that the trainees can see how a "normal" person will react to being tased.
I've been watching videos of it on youtube....
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaAu1n_efuU

    and I am strangely interested.

Not sure if I am going to do it or not. Would you?

Only thing I would get out of it is helping out my friend and bragging rights, although I wasn't looking to get anything out of it anyway.

    LOL.
My only concern is that I have asthma. I wasn't sure if they frown on people who have health conditions. Obviously things like a heart condition I probably wouldn't want to do it, but I don't have one, that I know of. LOL.

this seems like one of those things that'll feel like it's longer than it actually is when you're doing it. I think you should do it, not many people can say that they've been tased

This, with consideration. I work corrections and have been tased in training. It will knock you on your ass, but one must consider the effects are lessened if you are a larger person. The guy doing the tasing in the vids, for instance, would almost certainly be affected less than the majority of subjects tased in the vid. Also depends on the taser........but if you feel up to it, generally a waiver is required;)

its not bad, the hurt stops as soon as the tazer stops although you will feel tense afterwords. Plus in a class room setting its very controled, you will have people to catch you. Its not bad, i mean its not fun but on the pain scale it around a 5. I would take a tazer over pepper spray anyday.

Smart man. It's one thing if a department is looking for volunteers for actual training. But to just do it for fun could open the trooper up to all kinds of problems. We had two cops in a nearby department get fired for doing that exact same thing. They eventually fought it and got reinstated but using a dept issued taser on personal time on friends would be terrible judgement at best and opening that person up to unwanted attention and potential disciplinary action.
