we don't need protectionism, ...increasing the supply should help control prices and reduce the volatility caused by "speculators"...

canada has been very proactive thus far, and is positioning themselves to become a north american energy producing powerhouse. here in the US, the federal drilling permits have been drawn down over the past couple years, and it's only private drilling that is making up for the slack... we also have very large reserves of natural gas (including here in my state), that has a lot of potential, and states are cranking up discovery/extraction - unfortunately our fed gov does not see this as positive, and thus there is an impending threat to curtail natural gas production....

 

I have to agree, we should drill more here so our supply will be greater which in turn lowers gas prices

 

i dont think it'll make much of a difference in prices at all, i vote open the pipeline before we drill the coast.

Socialist is taking the profits from the sale of that oil and handing it out in ethanol production subsidies.

If the open up ANWR we can reduce our importing of foreign oil for 30 years at least to 0%

Living in Alaska we are almost ALL for the idea. It's those darn Californians keeping it closed.

Yup, I highly doubt drilling will lower prices. When we produce more, the world will produce less and prices stay the same. Ultimately gas will always be as expensive as the consumers can afford.
