Apologies again for the photobomb, but I finished the AT-AT and wanted to show it off :D

The final model is about 23" tall and about 28" long. It's got roughly 2800 bricks. It has a crew of 22 Snowtroopers, 2 Imperial deck sergeants, 2 AT-AT drivers, 2 Imperial commanders and a General (Veers). It's also carrying full weaponry for the entire crew, and a single Snowspeeder. And of course there's a young Jedi hanging from the belly, ready to throw thermal detonator into the hull. The level of detail puts it amazingly close to the movie, and it totally deserves a UCS plaque (might work on that next).

I have to say, this could never, ever be an actual Lego model. The whole thing is frighteningly fragile. In the middle of taking the pics, I accidentally bumped it and it crumbled into about 100 pieces. I damn near cried. It also required a lot of modification just to make it somewhat stable. The neck required a significant amount of reinforcement within the body to ensure it wouldn't just fall off and take the front of the body with it. Prob spent 4 hours on that alone. The legs, while sturdy, are attached with a single technic pin, which makes the whole model very wobbly. And if one leg goes, the whole thing goes (see above for the results!).

I know I said that I'd be happy to share my parts list and annotations to the instructions, but in the end I borrowed a lot of parts from my spares box to keep the neck stable and connected, and didn't keep track of any of them. I also added some interior detail that I didn't keep track of. So I've got a parts list that's sort of complete, but I won't know exactly what bricks are in the model until I take it apart some day. Still happy to give you what I've got, but understand that your milage may vary. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Overall, I'm really happy with how it came out. It was an amazing project. It was a scavenger hunt (for some very rare bricks), a puzzle and a source of frustration all wrapped up in a big ass model.

Thanks for the great comments on the progress pics. If it wasn't for this thread, I prob wouldn't have finished it until 2015 :)

    And now for the pics!

And of course it wouldn't be complete without Luke ready to cut open the hull, throw in a thermal detonator and take the beast down!
