Ok guys, I know this is a Tacoma/FJ forum but what's the deal with the right hand steering wheels on the new Jeeps? And I'm not talking about the postal Jeeps? What's the advantage to this? Looks like a accident waiting to happen.

For that exact reason, to appeal to rural mail carriers who supply their own vehicle. I see them regularly around here. See some RHD Saturn station wagons too.

No, had a close up at one today on the road, everything is the same except the wheel is on the passenger side. I'm smack dab in the northeast part of Nj, nothing rural about this area, and it was not a mail carrier.

Private postal route drivers can buy a RHD Jeep for their deliveries.

I don't know this was also a 4 door, where I'm from our mail is delivered in a USPS truck all labeled up. It also had a back seat and no racks in it for mail, next time I have to take a pic.

It is quite common for rural carriers to use their private vehicle. Much of the USPS ground transportation is contracted out.

That's why they are operating at a 15b loss every year.

    too much to type
I saw one the other day on rt 46 in Fairfield,NJ it was blue w/black flares 4door with a black top. It was def. not a mail truck. A young girl was driving it and this area is far from being a rural area.
You might have to stop at a Jeep dealer, and find out for us.
