I breed Champion AKC British Type Labradors as a hobby and today after waiting 64 days, my wife and I just found out she's not pregnant. We were supposed to take her in after day 30 or so but decided to let it ride. Doh! Damn U Murphy. Lesson learned. Was expecting $1500 per pup and some nice mods for the Taco. Oh well. Got another bitch coming to heat pretty soon. :D

Pretty sure if I spent $1500 on a dog he would not be let out of sight, let alone abandoned somewhere. My cat was $800 and he will die in my care, never getting rid of him. If you care about animals, you pay to play, but you treat them like family.

I bet you won't do that again..
I reserved oldest lab 3 months before they were even bred. My youngest almost 10 months. At least they didn't have any problems to make my wait longer.
Are your labs hunt, hunt test, or just pet lines?
    Just love these dogs.

We bought Roxy our first Lab 6 months before being born. I was the first pick but she ended up being a singleton. Roxy's first breeding 2 years ago brought 10 puppies. I kept one female, Daisy and she will be turning 2 in a couple months. Time for Hip testing and CERF before breeding her. My wife was planning on showing but we were transitioning from Atlanta to Memphis. Now that we are settled in she has started researching the local conformation clubs. We will probably be selling our pups to local hunters here in TN and MS as limited registration only, which means no breeding my line. The wife use to love malteses. Not any more....

I think he is saying there are enough dogs out there already without people breeding/selling them.
But if people wanna spend their money on - More power to them!!

I got lucky finding an conformation club that has heath clinic every spring. Saved a lot on the CERF exam. The exam done by the same person that would have done it at OSU for 6x the price. Then traveled an extra 45 min. for one vet for the hip and elbows for a better quality x-ray.
I was asked at times by some locals why I went 4 sates away and paid so much for my dogs. I would tell them I didn't like what I saw around here and wanted a quality dog with no health issues. I know of some that has spent more going the vet all the time, and they still don't get it.
    Good luck.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
We paid 600 for a pure bred boxer with good papers from all the family. My GSD's parents had papers, but I didn't really care. I saw both the parents and were both healthy and knew they had papers on them.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I am not against buying dogs, but always promote adoption. I've bought 1 dog in my life, and she is everything to me, wouldn't give her up for the world. But after visiting a big animal shelter out of town, and see the looks on all those dog's faces, the sadness, the fear, that made me a believer in adoption. Won't ever pay for a dog again.
