I had INTENTIONS on getting her a low end DSLR camera (IE Canon T3) since neither of us have ever had one or know how to use it. The price was about right @ around 500 bucks. After going to Best Buy and talking to some people I know there I was bamboozled into getting the next model up the T3i, also it had a bundle deal so I HAD to get that too! After all was said and done I spent 833 dollars for the T3i, nice big Canon bag, 75 - 300mm lense (w/o stableizer), 16gb SD card, and a couple polarized lense cover things.......

Yeah, I spent too damn much..... but she is good to me so she's worth it.

My "other" wants very badly to build something but she lacks the drive to sit down and plan out what she wants to do, or her plans are too grandiose to even think about. So I am going to get her a project.

    - Wine bottle cutter
    - Fancy edison bulbs
    - Pigtail sockets
    - Pendant light kit

She'll be able to make a few pendant lights out of old bottles which should be a fun project for the both of us.

    Something like this.

My wife is the same, could care less for jewelry, buys a $20 handbag and uses it till it's useless. So far I got her a Keurig (which she asked for)..have to figure out some other stuff, she is very tough to shop for because she doesn't have expensive tastes like I do.

My personal opinion: kitchen gadgets are usually ok as long as it's not something that's blatantly built to make your own favorite meal. Vacuum cleaners and other chore-related appliances are a definite no-no.

Mine too. One of the things I bought for her was a 12" springform pan last year. She loves it.

I bought my wife a Brighton bag with a matching wallet. Total was about $400 for both. They're expensive but not as bad as Coach.

Here's another idea, a gold, platinum or silver dipped rose (about $65):

My wife said she would like to get the things we didn't get for our wedding for xmas and most of it is appliances and cooking stuff. I may get a few things but still trying to come up with something else. She's not a shopper, she's now talking about getting rid of her jeep for a car so jeep parts are out, she doesn't want an ipad anymore, clothes would be something I would want her there for, thought about a weekend trip somewhere but may have to hold off in case I need shoulder surgery, thought about tattoo money but she'd rather use it for bills, she's not materialistic and doesn't like expensive brands, doesn't wear much jewelry, and the list goes on! Maybe I'll just build her a cake.

I'm in the same boat. Last year all I gave my wife was a spank on the butt and a "Merry Christmas Baby". I woke up several hours later in a ditch naked and beaten to a pulp.

I think I may have to step it up this year.

Have to revive this thread to see what you guys are doing this year. I am having trouble finding anything - normally if she needs something, she just gets it without waiting.

I don't think she would appreciate a savings bond either.

My wife likes cooking and gardening so I bought her a Food Cycler indoor composter. It's supposed to be able to turn food scraps into a soil amendment in as little as 3 hours.
    http://www.costco.com/Food-Cycler-Indoor-Composter.product.100130619.html

I bought her a gardening stool that can be flipped and kneeled on.

She also wanted a replacement rice cooker so I bought a Zojirushi unit:
    http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/...yID=7554#fn=sp=1&spc=4&kws=zojirushi&slotId=3

    I also bought her a matching bracelet/necklace.

Nothing big, probably something in the $20 range or so. I'm buying her a puppy in the summer, and it counts as her Christmas gift. And that's way more expensive than any Christmas gift.

I'm thinking either a new mop head or a can opener. Our old can opener is getting hard to turn she has to get me to help her sometimes. Ah heck it's Christmas I may get her both!
