no... tons of people were pissed about Bush's spending plans. That is one reason that the Repubs lost the House -too many middle of the road repubs spending out of control.
They are gone. Hopefully there are some true Blue Dog Dems that will keep obama in check as well.
The Republicans that are still there are fiscal conservatives. They will and should fight this ignorant spending spree. A majority (approx 70%) of this spending plan will not go into affect until after 2010. That is not stimulus. That is just spending. Stimulus would have an imediate affect now.

    A good point!

What the heck is this package supposed to do? Is it any different from the last one? Sum it up please for those of us who can't seem to find anything on the 'net about what it's supposed to do?? All I can find is stuff about the vote....

Read that article. It lays it out pretty clearly. A ton of cash is take from the tax payers and give to the non-tax payers.

Another "stimulus" secret is that some $252 billion is for income-transfer payments -- that is, not investments that arguably help everyone, but cash or benefits to individuals for doing nothing at all.

    $81 billion for Medicaid
$36 billion for expanded unemployment benefits
    $20 billion for food stamps
$83 billion for the earned income credit for people who don't pay income tax. While some of that may be justified to help poorer Americans ride out the recession, they aren't job creators - WHICH IS WHAT THIS PLAN IS SUPPOSED TO DO!!!

It works out to 15 cents on the dollar go back to the economy.
    42mil for resodding the mall
    332 mil to study std's
I forgot the dollar figure going to Acorn. They are getting tens of millions. After all we need to get out the vote to more dead people, dogs, cats, sheep and the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys for the next election.
Another huge waste of our money. Let's see the first one last year was approx 168bil. The last one was what?? 800 bil I believe. That went to "stimulate" the economy. Sure made AIG and Bank of America better off but not us:(
I'm not at all enthused about this.

    Actually yes, I have.

WASHINGTON - At first, it will trickle into paychecks in small, barely perceptible amounts: perhaps $12 or $13 a week for many American workers, in the form of lower tax withholding.

For the growing ranks of the unemployed, it will be more noticeable: benefit checks due to stop will keep coming, along with an extra $25 a week.

At the grocery store, a family of four on food stamps could find up to $79 more a month on their government-issued debit card.

How about cutting corporate taxes. Freezing capital gain taxes. Giving the private sector businesses incentive to hire.
Less dependent on goverment is what I want to see for everyone. Not the other way around.
Give employers/businesses a reason to hire.

You realize that 80,000+ people were laid off this week? I have several friends that have been laid off and are on unemployment and food stamps right now while they look for jobs... There are literally less than 20 employment ads in the local paper, which normally has 5+ pages of them, and there are hundreds of people trying to get those 20 jobs. Those programs need to be extended, because you'd be a fool to think any plan is going to create jobs for these people overnight. We're in deep, deep shit.

I love how the government just tosses around billions of dollars at things. Why dont they just take that 819b and divide it amongst everybody on TW ??

This is not a "stimulus" package. It's a Porkulus package for lobbyists, special interest groups, goverment contractors, the list goes on.

the government's only interest is in control, they are all paid, they have NO interest in the common good, and there is NO morality or compassion.

As if you are all surprised that the Gov is doing something else that sucks. Thats all this gov knows how to do, its all bullshit.. everyone there is for sale...

Speaking of the gov, I was watching this thing on Air Force 1 last night, and at the end it showed them picking up Obama, it showed some dialogue between him and the crew, MAN he is a DOUCHE BAG!!! damnit. we are all doomed, unless we RISE UP AGAINST... Dont be afraid to fight this joke of a governing force.

300 million people vs. a few fat paid dirt balls, I think we win...

But all anyone has the balls to do (myself included) is post up on a damn internet site and complain.

Banks collapsed in Iceland. Mass protests going on over there. Economy has FAILED over there people are rising up as we speak.
If they continue to spend OUR money in a poor manner then this will happen eventually.
Toilet paper will be worth more than the dollar due to rapid inflation. No other nation will back our money on our goverments word..
Write your senator/congressman TODAY/ email them/ get on the phone call them, jam the lines. LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE WATCHING AND SEE THE FARCE THEY ARE PERPETUATING!!

The next Boston Tea Party may soon be approaching..

How are the numbers bias?? They are numbers. $1 Billion for Amtrack is not bias. The fact that Amtrack has not turned a profit in a number of years is not bias.

$85 billion for un-employment is a number that is not bias. Someone asked for details of the plan. Those are the details.
