Looking to see if anyone has experience in ending a lease early - specifically with Toyota would be nice, but any car make will do as i am sure the process is similar.

Unfortunately the events and conversations that took place between my GF and i surrounding the purchase of the truck are different depending on which of us you ask, and the financial side of it is starting to affect some other things we want to do in life.

I emailed my salesperson - i have bought a total of 4 vehicles through the same dealership now - to get two options explained to me.

Option 1 - Return the Tacoma and swap over into a Corolla

Option 2 - Return the Tacoma and clear up any due balances to be free and clear

I understand that this is going to cost me 'something' - just want to know if anyone else with experience has any advice for me going into it.

It's an '12 with no modifications, 30,000 kms on it, all servicing done through that same dealership (and always done at least 1,000 kms early). Only off-roaded once. Truck is as near 'off the lot' condition as it could be.

    Thanks.

    Just an FYI

Leasing in Canada is different than leasing in the US so some of the answers may not transfer directly

Do you still have the paperwork you signed?? All the penalties/charges should be laid out in there.

My husband ended his lease early (many years ago).
It was an Acura Integra GSR. He was looking to buy a Subaru.

It might vary depending on what you're buying and the time you have invested in the lease. I've heard folks get out of one lease and into another with no penalties.

In our situation...it was treated similarly to trading in a vehicle you own.
They take the amount of money you would owe to 'buyout' the vehicle on that particular day. Then, figure out what the car is worth (or what they'll give you for it). We were lucky... The car was worth more than the buyout amount.
