Stupid thread about stupid stuff you wondered about. You don't have to still be wondering, you could have spent half your life trying to figure it out and no longer be wondering, either because you figured it out or because you realized it didn't matter anyway, or you just plain gave up.

So I was just sitting there a moment ago, wondering if there is a standard for the internal diameter of a toilet paper roll, why they are that size, and if it is the same for paper towels.

I believe there is a standard and it's the same for paper towels for home use. I only arrived at this assertion from having owned hamsters as a child.

That is better than arriving at the assertion based on use with hamsters as an adult. I believe the term is "felching."

Which just made me wonder, why did anyone try that in the first place? Did it happen just by accident the first time? Was it a viking on a very cold winter night?

Why did I start this thread?
