    here's an interesting factoid/snippet.

NRA President Wayne LaPierre says school shootings could be prevented by employing armed guards at schools. But Columbine High School had an armed officer, Sheriff's Deputy Neil Gardner, on duty the morning Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold entered the school and murdered 12 of their classmates and a teacher.

High schools in LA County in California started having a B&W and a deputy in the parking lot as long ago as 1979.

"Count be prevented" does not mean "Will be eliminated"

People don't tend to rob gun stores, but it does happen (though usually in stores like Turners where corporate prohibits employees from carrying).
It is a deterrent... not a cure.
It is simply a step to "harden" the target.

I don't want to pay for it when it's easier to have one entrance to the school that's regulated better.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I think it would be a good thing, put a lot of unemployed vets to work that would be more than happy to protect school children.

"The second amendment would of prevented 9/11. They might not of tried it if they new that the pilot had a gun.The responsibility should of been on the pilots and the airlines, not on the government..." - Ron Paul"

I'd say that the same thing should apply too schools.

i dont agree with armed security. i do however agree with school resource police officers. armed security guards/armed teachers is a huge liability for a school/town to take on.

    1. if something does happen, police are now looking for multiple people with guns running around in the school, if teachers, they would have nothing to identify themselves as teachers from the bad guy. in a situation like this, mistakes are inevitable where it is also IMPARITIVE that they are NOT made.

    2. the school/town is now responsible for any number of guns inside the school which are now subject to go missing/be misused/used to commit the school shooting.

    3. if you choose to arm security guards/teachers in the school, you have to offer some other type of protection, i.e. bulletproof vests... $$$$ plus you have to get all the firearm carriers to qualify with handguns and or long guns.

Obama has stated he would do anything in his power to make schools safer... maybe this is a good time to create some federal funding to get police departments and schools to co-exist with eachother. in that, federally funded SRO positions, as well as police departments admin sitting down with school admins and creating emergency action plans, and training to put these plans to use. fuck, if we can federally fund automotive/bank CEO's vacations, mansions and bonus', we can federally fund something that is actually needed to ensure safety of children in our sommunities.

You mean banning guns going to be free? The gov spends a shit ton on pointless stuff anyway nothing different here. Rather then spending money on state of the art sports facilities with synthetic grass and what else. There are many pointless things that could be ditched in favor of this. Shit they have a cop full time at some large construction sites wtf?

I'd agree with the rest you said but who is going to pay for it? I believe a huge pat of why these psychos do it is because of the heartless media leeches.

My school had an armed police officer stationed at the school...he was professional and transparent unless something happened.. Case and point when an inmate broke out of the hospital and ran to the school it was put on lockdown; he was patrolling long before the other leos arrived.

However, I see both sides... There will always be dumbfuck kids, and every human makes mistakes;having firearms on campus adds another variable for stupidity to cause legitimate pain

IMHO, if the money is there, I'm all for having trained security at the schools

in mississippi a family member is a LEO, his post is the school campus, all three schools are in a big block so if they need him the principle calls him and he's there in under 3 minutes.
