There's def. room for suspicion on her end...but quite honestly who wouldn't feel a bit suspicious? BUT, she does need to understand that it is YOUR personal information that she doesn't need to be involved in. It's like getting something in the mail for you and her opening it and reading it, etc...

She should be understanding of your situation...and if you aren't doing anything stupid *read cheating or the like*...she really shouldn't worry...plus if she knew who you really were and trusted you that much...it should not be of concern to her.

That's your personal information...she should understand that.

    Kind Regards,
    Ryan

The way I view it, if you cannot trust your wife/husband or girlfriend/boyfriend to do what is right when you are not looking, something is drastically wrong. Their is no need to be peeping around and babysitting your wife, & vise versa. Trust is a major part of any relationship, and when it lacks, things just seem like they slide down hill from there.

With that said, the only person that knows any of my passwords would be my self. As far as girlfriends go, more of them come and go than stay in the end. I definitely wouldn't be giving out a password that links them to sensitive information in the event that something went south and retaliation was in mind... Just my opinion.

    I'm married......so it's an unfair comparison.

Paypal is probably the only account we both technically share because our bank accounts (everything is jointly) is connected to it. And honestly? There are a lot of online related things we share an account with - like our website hosting, netflix, banking etc. We both have our own e-mails.

There are other things online that we do separately. He has his 'world' (space) of online things and I have my own. I don't care to see what he does online and why. But even if I asked to see things, he wouldn't hesitate to show me.
I never ask....that's his privacy. Same goes - I have my privacy too.

Tell her (and help her do it) get her own e-mail so she can login to these places on her own!

thats the thing, she has her own yahoo email account, but for some reason she has never signed up with ebay and have her own account, always uses mine and the emails go to mine. once i told her i changed it she was telling me how im pushing her away from trusting me!

Maybe you just need to sit down with her, have a heart to heart, and say it like it is. Explain your stance and how it is completely rational of you to feel like it is time for her to have her own. It would obviously be better for both of you to have independent account, especially from the prespective of being organized.

    yeah, exactly.

Jokingly- tell her she's too damn lazy to start her own account!!

You can always tell her... "This account was MINE before you came along and it'll be MINE even after you're gone!"

(or maybe you DON'T want to tell her that...)

I think my GF knows most of my passwords, I know some of hers. I don't really like it though because I want a little bit of something that's my own- and if we break up I don't want to have to go and hurry around changing all my passwords just so she can't mess with my different accounts everywhere. I say change em and tell her why you did it and she'll eventually get over it. She has to trust you.

We don't know each others passwords and we have our own log-in on the computer, it has never been a topic of discussion between us. I have given him a password to my ebay/paypal in the past cause he didn't want to sell something under his name, so technically he could figure out some of my other accounts if he wanted to, but I'm not concerned. I sit with him when he is on the computer and he doesn't hesitate to check email etc in front of me, so we aren't hiding anything and wouldn't mind showing something if questioned.
I agree that if the 'norm' changed then I'd wonder, but each has to have their privacy.

I've had this conversation many times. back in college my gf's room mate was all kinds of dysfunctional and as soon as she started dating a guy she wanted all his passwords for facebook, email, myspace and his voicemail. in return, she would give him all hers. they fought all the time. why do you think that is? probably because behavior like that denotes a lack of trust. It's MY cell phone, MY email and MY facebook. i'm not going to share my passwords. not because i'm hiding anything but because its private and its mine. i'm as open and honest with my gf as humanly possible, and so if she insists on having my passwords, we would have to break up because that means she has trust issues and no matter how loyal i am she will always wonder about me. Now i say all this because i have never cheated on a girl and i have never done anything to prove that i'm not loyal or trust worthy and i'm always brutally honest. But if you have cheated in the past and your woman/man is good enough to forgive you, then i dont think it's too much to ask for a password. if you have done something to lose someones trust then its up to you to gain it back, which may mean sharing passwords. So if your a cheater, stop whining and pay for your mistakes by giving her your pw. if you're not a cheater, tell her to get over her insecurities and trust you and be a man and stand up for yourself and keep your passwords private. but you may wanna be a little more tactful than that....
