So this morning i got in a minor parking lot accident at my University. I was backing out a very tight spot and i backed into this truck pretty slow some fender damage was done (pics) Nothing happened to my truck at all. I left a note , The girl called and we talked and she called the campus police and they want to file a report some time tomorrow, even though i didnt want her too because i already agreed to pay the damage. She agreed not to involved any insurance though, because im on my parents insurance plan so i didnt want that to go up.

However should i notify them anyway (the insurance) or is it not going to come up with just a police report? etc etc...

Also is there away i can convince the officer it was impossible not to hit this damn truck or?

and will i get a ticket ? thanks i have a clean driving record up until now i guess im 19

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
You can actually argue they were not in a parking spot designed for them, as well as they were not fully in the spot. Thankfully you got pictures of everything.

Then you just gotta end it as fast as possible. Say you were blocked in and couldn't make the tight turn. Might get a cool cop that let's you off. Just be kinda blunt, don't say a lot more than what's needed.

You need to man up you hit a parked car that you knew was there. Even if it was missed parked. Pay for you fubar dude. Next time there is a missed parked truck call the PD and have it towed. Ether way you hit her truck and have admitted it.

That looks like a pretty big parking lot with lots of space to be able to not back into that truck...

Careful man... even minor appearing damage can add up quickly.
That could be $2000 in repairs depending on what's under that fender.

Be prepared to send it to the insurance company.

Hate parking most places. I take an open spot towards the back...I'll walk so I don't have to get cozy with other cars.

I would be impressed if you managed to get out of anything because she "wasn't in her spot." She was parked....You were moving - It's your problem.

    broseriously ?

harden up. You crunched it, no one else did.

at least it was not on the road. parking lot incidents usually
do not jack up insurance rates but you are 19 which is the
    highest risk category.

eat this one like a man

Even if it was not your fault, some states are "no fault" insurance, meaning it doesn't matter who's fault it is, your premium will still go up.

EDIT: didn't see above post about parking lots wrt Insurance

^ This. You have no chance of beating it. Don't try to fabricate a story to the police or the mole hill could turn into a mountain very fast. You did the right thing by calling and taking responsibility.

I'm not really coming down on you here but I doubt anyone would believe it was impossible to not hit it. It wasn't moving. You were. Your vehicle had to move to hit it. Stopping before you hit it means it was possible. Maybe it was difficult to get out of your spot, but it wasn't impossible to avoid hitting it. Whether it was tough getting out or not, it was your fault. I know you acknowledge this but I wouldn't try to come across to the cop that it was impossible.

As for her involving the campus police, I would do it as well. She doesn't know you. It's for her protection in case you don't pay up. If it was my car that was hit I would also notify my insurance company. Notifying your insurance company might not be a bad idea either. They can protect you from unreasonable claims.

For those saying fight it, I don't know what there is to fight. It was a parked vehicle. There is no law that says a vehicle must fit in completely in a space or it cannot be parked.
