Hey guys I have a '97 Avalon. It has 230k on the original motor, I loaned it to my sister and it over heated on her now its got a lot of pressure in the cooling system and I see bubbles coming out the radiator cap. Water pump still works but all the extra pressure is there. What's next I don't want to get rid of it I had it for a long time. But I will if the repair are more than 2k. How can I solve this dilema?

Auto wrecker. I picked up a motor for $400 in the past and it was great. Plus $400 to install. Ask the wrecker who can install it; they usually have someone that can do it.

Nice. Thanks that will put the repair at $800. But would there be a emission problem here in CA?

They reinstall all your emissions and accessories onto another block and heads. They should guarantee the motor for 30 plus days, too

So that's the best way to go? Replace the motor all together?

Find out how much to do the head gasket. With your mileage I'd be looking at all options.

No problem. Good luck. You'll come up with something. Another motor from a car that was written off early in it's life would be perfect.
