Okay I think I solved the mystery.......I am pretty sure these are flakes that fell from my roof. I checked the roof and underneath the shingles is the same type of "stuff".

did it rain or was it windy... it could be clumps of dead moss that fell off your roof during the night. When moss dies it kind of looks and feels like dirt.

Dude, serious, is this the dilema in your life ? I know this condition (from the old days) you need to put down the glass & get 2 maybe 3 days of sleep....& it all goes away......
