Simunition - painful? What protection gear?

Anyone ever been shot at with Simunition?

I'm curious in general what people experiences have been like using it.
Fun?
Fun enough to be worth the pain?
How painful? Compare it to something like a hornet sting.

Safety gear, what's must have versus nice to have? It might only be a 1 time outing so I don't want to spend much $$.

Face shield, neck wrap, gloves, and something for the man parts are definate and I have those already. It's the other areas I'm not sure about yet. It's likely to be warm (70+ degree) when I go so it's a tradeoff of pain versus sweating.

Core: normal vest/jacket (non-armor), overalls, just a shirt...
Arms: jacket, long sleeve T, bare...
Legs: work pants (tough material like Carhartts), normal jeans, other...

You'll want sealed safety goggles, to avoid any projectiles getting into your eyes, probably a mouth guard if you like your teeth. Neck seems to be a sensitive area, so wear a scarf or something.

I've dabbled a bit in airsoft; it's the same idea for protection. Long sleeves and pants.

You're going to feel it when you get hit, much like a bee sting. It will go away after awhile.

 

i've been shot by the .223 version with an m-16. it wasnt bad at all, we had to wear alot of gear so we didnt feel a thing. we had to clear buildings and we were all covered with markings, but i didnt feel a single one.

 

Thick balaclava and googles work, too. If it gets hot, well, remember to train like you'd fight.

 

What are their rules??
What FPS are we talking about?

I used to play airsoft... and they had strict rules for engagement. Guns firing at a certain FPS were limited to a given range to engage a human target. If you were caught shooting anyone closer than that given range...you were kicked out of the game. With airsoft - normally, pistols had the lowest FPS. AR style airsoft guns were the norm. Bolt action airsoft rifles had higher FPS. Prior to every game - ALL guns had to be tested for FPS levels so you know what your engagement distance was.

I would highly recommend researching their rules & regulations and especially the safety gear they recommend.
