Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I think you're reading to far into this one Wiley. She is implying that the kids are part of the community. I like your thoughts here, but I think you're taking her words at face value.

Its true, I don't have any kids but since I pay taxes for kids to go to public school and in a very large amount of cases get free lunch then yes. If I had my way half of the day in public schools would be a labor camp, it's not like they learn useful skills as is.

I think she just worded it badly. If you just went by what she said, then I don't agree with it either. But if you think about it from an education point of view it's not as harsh as she makes it sound.

    Lol haha.
We spend more on education then almost any other countryand yet we have some of the worst performing dumfuc kids in the developed world. We DO NOT need to throw more money at it. Instead we need to address distractions, self disipline, and the I'm entitled attitude. Get them away from the fing tv, video games, majority of internet surfing. Give these kids a reason to want an education. Look at developing countries like india, china, pakistan, south korea, ect and see how much motivation is put into education and the differance that it makes.

    ^ This

And if you don't over think what the commercial is saying, the point is telling parents that it is their job to prep the kids for being members of society, part of the community.

At least that is what I take from it when I over think it.

The education solution is simple. Vouchers.

But the politicians...bureaucrats...and unions don't want simple, because it takes away their power...influence, and money.

Giving parents and students a choice that is not greatly influenced by financial limitations of the parents, will naturally force our education system to get better. Which would you choose for your children, the failing public school your kids are forced to attend because of geography or a successful voucher or private school that has low drop out rates and a high percentage of students perusing higher education after graduation?

I would choose the best education for my kids, and so would everyone else. Which would lead to the failing school either closing or getting their act together!

Sad the the same folks who support "choice" when it comes to a baby in the womb...

don't want choice for a childs education once born.
