    also look at the plane they used in myth busters. The prop is clearly positioned under the wings. So how would it make lift then if its underneath the wings?!?!?!

    4.56 gears, rear trutrac,DT header, 235/85r16 Duratracs, 2nd filter pulled, inter.wipers, Cruise control, Factory alum. whls/winter tires(2nd set), Afe pro Dry-S , Dumbo eared flaps cut down.
    think of a fan boat... it moves foreward, that's all the prop does is move the boat, or on a plane pull the plane fast enough until the wings can lift/fly.

    its about speed through the air for lift, not ground speed actual

    No, I'm saying that you put a plane on a huge conveyer... then accelerate the plane, it's gonna MOVE FORWARD and take off just like it would if it was on a runway.

    And then fly!!!

    I understand that but these guys seem to think that the plane won't move on the treadmill... If you give any thrust to the plane it will still move over the ground because there is very little resistance due to the tires rolling on the ground.

    The experiment is with equal speeds. and to stay stationary you could probably be at idle or 1-5% throttle to get rolling. much like taxiing an aircraft around the airport. Of course planes dont fly at taxi speeds.

    With enough thrust, a pig will fly.

    For lift from a wing, it requires airflow over the wing, so the wing can re-direct it downward, sending the wing upward.

    Seems like most aircraft could generate a lot more ground speed than they actually need to lift off.
    Let them find the top speed of that plane, then pull their giant tarp in the opposite direction at that same speed.. then guess what?
