How Do You Stay Awake While Driving?

Just had a though as I did my weekly two hour drive back to school, what tricks do you guys have to keep yourself awake if you feel like your getting sleepy while driving?

I personally like to chew gum (for some reason that helps) and to give myself a couple "light" smacks to the cheek

Didn't see a thread like this, sorry if there something similar already

 

i turn the music up loud and just sing. or roll down the windows and have the wind hit me

 

I honestly keep thinking if I sleep right now I will probably die

 

Sunflower seeds work bitchin for me

 

Pull over and take a walk, get some fresh air, have a cup of coffee or iced tea.
2nd time I get the feeling, it's time to pull off and catnap for 20 or 30.

But that's on 8-10 hour road trips.
If you're getting drowsy on a 2 hour drive, you aren't getting enough sleep the night before you leave.

 

I work gy. There is a lot of ways. But normally I just pull over and nap.

 

Water. Lots of it. Makes you stop and pee often, which stretches your legs and breaks up the monotony of the road.

 

Sing.

Roll down windows.

Stop, get out, walk around, get a soda.

 

I sing and roll the windows down. Or I drink water and savagely punch myself in the crotch while humming the indiana jones theme

 

In the past, I've actually dozed off at a red light.... a handful of times. I was awakened by horns blaring.

Turn up the radio and ac will liven you up.

You guys stay awake while driving? That's why I got a Tacoma. Doze off and let the ditch do the driving.

 

mom chews sunflower seeds and dad doesn't seem to do anything, doing nothing seems to work for dad,him and mom drove from MISS-CALI (36 hours) strait through only stopping for bathrooms and diesel.

 

Shouldn't be driving if you have to do any of these things..... Ahem

 

I have a 9 hour drive from home to school, ive only done it a couple times but i like to drink water or roll down the window, and if it gets really bad ill pull off stretch and walk around

 

I've got a few long drives coming up. If I start in the morning I usually get tired at about 3-4 pm. I need to stay awake! Sound of my tires puts me to sleep. And driving is relaxing to me. I'm not much of a singer though!

 

so nobody should ever drive anywhere far ?

 

Wasn't referring to me getting sleepy, just a thought that popped into my head

 

Of course not it would be foolish!

 

I get some fear pumping by going fast in the wrong lane in oncoming traffic.
