2 acres too much for rototiller ?

I need to turn up 2 acres of land but I dont want to use a hand push rototiller.

I saw that a local place rents a 2 foot wide tiller that you can tow behind sit down lawn mower.

Think that would work ?

 

two acres of tilling is quite a bit of work without the right equipment. Are you breaking up new ground or...has it been tilled before? Is it clay and hard as a rock or relatively loamy?

Oh it doable. But you will hate yourself afterward. I've got right at an acre I till. Wears me out. I'll go back in occasionally after we plant out rows for some Maitenance in between the rows. Even that is roughy depending on how the ground is.

 

Hire somebody

Tractor, plow, disc harrows. Only solution that doesn't involve a ridiculous amount of time.

 

if its hardpan dirt, a rototiller may or may not work. you don't know anyone with a tractor? if you lived close to me, i would do it for gas money. i have two old tractor that i use for deer food plots and two large gardens that the wife and i put in every year.

 

thanks for the offer but i'm in montana.

i think the ground is going to be pretty hard because its never been worked at all.
