Bolt Cutters

Has anyone ever actually used bolt cutters to cut bolts or are they only called that because naming them fence cutters, lock cutters, chain cutters, or cable cutters would make it seem like everyone who owns them is a criminal?

Bolt cutters do a poor job on bolts with good threads, but VERY handy on removing rusted bolts from fences and other construction jobs. I think of them as demolition tools.

they are called bolt cutters because door locks used to be called bolts. it has nothing to do with "nuts & bolts"

ever heard the phrase "bolt the door"? even today there is the "dead bolt" on most entry doors.

X2. I thought about cutting the UCA bolt head instead of bending the inner fender, but a bolt cutter big enough to do the job won't fit.

Considering the proximity and everyday usage, both.

Angle Grinder or SawZall.

Just watch the brake and fuel lines.

Personally I just beat the shit out of my fender with a 5lb sledge till I could slip the bolt through.
