Anyone heard of cleaning companies going door to door to do free carpet cleanings? I had a guy with long hair and a beard knock on your door for a "free" carpet cleaning to "promote their business?" Guy looked pretty shady had to tell him i didn't want it 4 times, then he said that if the people dont want it cleaned they do some stain resistant stuff to the carpet. It finally took me telling the guy no another 3 times and my dog sticking his head out the door barking at him for him to get the point. Then he asks for the flyer back that he handed me. But as I was talking to him in the doorway I saw him try to look around the room. He didnt have a vehicle with him, and when he walked down the road he was on his cell phone and walked right past the houses next to me. Kinda weird....I called the sherriff's office they said they had a call about 2 hours before me with the same description and they have deputies keeping an eye open. Then a friend of mine said that a woman came to their house and there was a guy sitting in a old astro van. I'm assuming their casing houses. Because who tries to promote their business on Memorial Day Weekend when most people are out of town..

People try anything these days. I would have stalled him and called the cops while he was there.

I didnt even think of him trying to case the place at first. I was just like uhh no we don't need the carpets cleaned. Then when he walked off and got on his phone I watched and saw him pass all the houses without going up to them. Thats when I went and grabbed the glock. Anyways I guess my friend kept the flyer and she texted the picture to me. It has no company name but has a number for the "West Coast Divsion".... So I call it... it's disconnected.

a couple months ago there was a white van in my neighborhood trying to do the same thing. they come in "clean" your carpet, scope out the joint. come back when your not home, rob you blind. Low lifes these days!

yeah I had the baseball game on and I saw his eyes move up to look behind me at the tv on the wall. Then he was trying to get me to have him clean the couches in which he peaked further inside. Like I said I didn't think much of it at first.

And let the guy casing your house for a burglary know that you have guns.

    Not smart.

I keep it in a very well hidden spot and you would literally have to know the layout in order to find out plus I keep it in a safe

yeah i got an AR too, but I dont use it as my home defense. I have my Glock loaded set away for myself then the Mossberg 20 loaded and set away for my wife. Half of me feels like I'm overreacting, while the other half is like I'm not about to get robbed to get my wife and property in danger. So I'd rather go with that half....

i live in a relatively nice neighborhood, and once every few months we get one of those door to door steak sales, a guy not dressed very well very 'dirty' looking, driving a beat down geo metro selling 'top of the line omaha steaks'. probably have a bomb in that box instead of steaks.

There were too many sketchy things with this guy to be "real" in my opinion. No vehicle, dressed unprofessional, the flyer had no information on it about the business, guy was quick to take the flyer back, the friend that did take the flyer sent me the number on the bottom of the flyer...which I called and was disconnected.. When I give someone my business card. I want them to remember who I am, Large letters for my Business name, with my name and contact information. I'll post the flyer in a minute

See the only people to ever knock on my door whom I'm not expecting are Jehovah Witness or Mormon's. Which is actually what I was expecting when I opened the door.

Right??? The wife and I talked about it when she got home. Told her I don't want her answering the door to anyone unless she knows who they are. If the person keeps knocking on the door I want her to go to our room grab her shotgun and stand by with her cell phone. We keep our pit/bull mastiff in the house almost all the time and whenever anyone knocks he lets them know he's there. Definately on edge.

The fucked up thing was the guy told me he makes like $25 for every house he does the free service on. In which I told him I didnt want the service but i'd be glad to tell his boss that he did it so he could get his $25 lol. He said he couldn't do that.....hmmm
