It was in McMinnville, which is pretty far out from Portland. Lots of farmland and pretty rural.

Still, violent weather of any kind out here is pretty rare. Eastern WA spawns a few twisters now and again, and I think there was one in Woodinville a couple years ago. But generally, the air temps aren't warm enough and there isn't a convergence of air masses to cause them. I think we have to have a pretty good onshore flow to cause that instability.

Took this pic a couple weeks ago, driving into a nasty storm. Thought it was a cool pic and fitting for this thread.

yeah. at least there was no reports of anyone hurt.

I saw a pic of part of a roof missing. my guess is it probably took a or almost a direct hit since highest wind were around 90mph. They had officials come in and do a report and determine it.

Storm I saw glowering above my shop about a week ago.

It was huge and produced some purple lightning. The sky was way darker than the picture looks.

So I drove up the hill to snap some pictures in my Bronco, wont drive the truck in stuff like this. The sheet metal on these old Fords is so thick it would take golf ball size or bigger to really do any damage, but the metal is so thin on the Taco it don't take much at all to ding it. Thankfully this storm just flanked us and went onward away from town.

Sorry for the graininess of the pics, idk what was up with my iPhone, normally it takes really good HD pictures.

Yeah, they get big in Montana during the spring. Thankfully though since we are surrounded by 4 good size mountain ranges the storm's had dissipated a whole bunch by the time they reach us and rarely do we see any funnel clouds. But they sure do raise hell with different areas in the mountains where microbursts sometimes occur. Couple summers ago I went on a single track dirt bike ride with a friend through a canyon where a microburst hit the previous year and I mean patches here and there were completely leveled and had at one time buried the trail but a park ranger come through there with a chainsaw and cleared it out again. Just amazing what wind can do, snap them big furs and ponderosas like nothing! Good thing we were on motorcycles that day, no way a 4 wheeler or truck would have made it in there without some serious chainsaw work.
