I am sorry to hear that. He is in a better place now. The hardest thing I have ever experienced was losing my boxer Keno. He will never be replaced but he will always be in my heart.

I am so sorry Kristin...I will God to send him and you a special blessing tonight in my prayers. Rest assured you did the right thing in putting him out of his misery. I can only hope someone will find the courage and strength to find a way to put me to rest when my time comes if it is painful or involves any kind of suffering. I believe Chubby would like his final resting place
Five months in a dog's life is about 3 years to ours. Thus the spread that we think is sudden. I think it might be worth a visit to your old Vet's office and ask him what happened? He might have lab test to back up his diagnosis but you need to know to put this behind you instead of carrying it in your heart....again my heart felt sorrow for your loss.....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

    iam so sorry

Thanks everyone :). I appreciate the kind works...sorry to take over the thread with sad news.
I love looking at the pics though, so post up yours please!!

The old Vet has the tests results which he said showed only fat, our Vet now thinks the old one didn't do a very thorough job doing the tests, there was a layer of fat over the tumor, but it wasn't very thick. It was thyroid cancer which shows no symptoms other than the mass and doesn't show up on routine blood work, so the Vet just dismissed it. I'd suspected thyroid cancer myself, but they kept ensuring me it wasn't...but in perspective even with treatment when it was smaller he wouldn't of had much more time anyway, it's a complicated surgery and the life expectancy is short so I just have to tell myself it wouldn't have matter either way. Jim is angry with the old Vet, he wants me to do something about it..I don't know that anything would help.
I saw the signs, but I didn't want to acknowledge them, he was on his last stretch and I was prolonging it without knowing. Wish I would have spoiled him a little more these past couple weeks :(.

Tank is doing fantastic though, he isn't acting like he just had surgery so I'm trying my best to keep him settled down. He is my shadow now, he took over Chubs role quickly. He has looked for Chubs a couple times, but I'm hoping since he is so young he will adjust quickly.

I said it on the BC thread, but I'll say it here, too, with tears running down my cheeks. I'm so sorry about Chuuby, Kristen. He'll be waiting at the Bridge for you. You gave him an amazing life and the most love. He knows that.
