Superglue can be used in the field if you are far away from treatment. Not the best or first choice but if you have some combat medics have been using different variants of it since Vietnam.

I work in a big welding, fab shop. Up until the last couple years we have not had anykind of saftey person. We do now and a lot of injuries have stopped do to enforcement of face shields and saftey glasses. Anyhow in the 10yrs i have worked there i have seen faces split open, fingers ripped off, hands and arms cut. Most of those due to 4 1/2" cut off wheels and people not wearing gloves and face shields. Anytime you use a tool like this it only takes seconds to go bad fast. Hope all heals well.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
As dangerous as they can be, angle grinders and flap discs are beautiful things.

+1. Safety is so much more than nanny idiot guards. To use the overbeaten horse, a dull knife is more dangerous. I work with machine shop equipment that will kill you, complacency and false sense of security is worse than anything else. I want all my operators acutely aware of the real dangers all the time.

Thanks to every one of you for your post. I appreciate you looking. If this thread can remind one person not to let their guard down around power tools then it was worth taking one for the team.

Normally when I pick up one of my 3 grinders, one with grinding wheel, one with cut off wheel, and one with sanding wheel, I'm in my grinding room with full clothing, leather gloves, a respirator, goggles (not open glasses) , ear plugs and hearing protection on my ears. Even when it's over 100 degrees in the shop. It's like riding a motorcycle, wear your gear!

Just wanted to point this out to remind anyone new to grinders that these things can and will bite now and then!

As mentioned, very good thing that it went to you instead of your child. Best wishes for a fast healing, and a return to full use of that foot!

thanks for sharing the experience. Just recently picked up an angle grinder with cutting wheels but hadn't got around to trying it out. This serves as an effective caution and disclaimer to the inexperienced user like me to wear proper gear and not underestimate what kind of carnage this can cause.
