    I'm with the OP here...

I see zero plants under his tires and the rocky incline appears as if it's part of the parking area to me.

I understand the reasoning for giving the ticket. But still sucks, just bad luck for you there.

There doesn't have to be plants under the tires to be considered off trail. A bunch of people I was with one day got cited for going off In a sandy area with no vegetation. Tires must stay on the road.

Speaking from a treehugger standpoint, if everyone started doing that then the hill would start to wear. And usually parking areas are flat.

I can see where the op is coming from but I also understand why the ticket was given.

So OP parks like an a-hole cause he can then gets mad at the Ranger? I'm not seeing the logic behind it.

It like speeding down the freeway with no one else on it and getting a speeding ticket. Just because you can doesn't mean you should, ya did something against park rules and got cited for it.

Yeah? Seen a lot of parking areas with significant uphill spots?
Park like a normal person in the flat area and this would not have been an issue...

Why not park in the designated parking are instead of trying to work into the extreme mall crawl parking hall of fame? Then you avoid a ticket and looking like a DB.

Seriously? That is like saying a highway patrolman should stop giving tickets to people who drive without wearing a seat belt, and instead concentrate on the people driving 90MPH on the interstate. It doesn't matter either way, they are BOTH breaking the law. Don't want a ticket? Then don't break the law. Simple as that.

I don't understand why everyone is so anal about this tread lightly thing.

Also I wouldn't have parked there because its pointless, however I would have climbed that just for fun.

I understand it in high traffic off road areas, don't unnecessarily destroy the surrounding natural environment when there is already a trail. But sometimes people just go completely overboard with the tree hugging concept.

The point of my whining is that I am tired of being micromanaged on every aspect of life. Its not like the world is going to turn to anarchy if they got rid of Half of the garbage laws and regulations being imposed on Americans. Just saying its not really ticket worthy. I will fight it and win. There was no signage stating to stay off and the "off trail" hill was barren.

Because now we are being watched and are at high risk for people to shut down our trails. We have to keep them happy for us to stay happy and have our things.

And really when it comes down the the nitty-gritty, IMO trails are much prettier when they remain on one route. Not 50 different trails wandering aimlessly.
