Well technically it ends at some point, but that point has gone further out right now, and now, and now, and now. Lol

Speaking of, here are 3 proposed theories about the "End" of the universe. The Open Universe Theory, the Closed Universe Theory, and the Flat Universe Theory.

If you cant understand it, it shows that the universe could end in 17-18 billion years by collapsing on itself. Or it will continue to grow at the rate it grows at right now. Or it could increase at an accelerated rate

Here is the same theory with different end dates (from NASA)

Yup. I mean thats kinda what happens when you try to guess into the future. There are hundreds of theories about the end of the universe and for me personally its one of the most fascinating things because you just dont know. Earth will probably be gone before the Universe ends but its just something interesting to think about

It definitely is. I just love how people can have exact opposite theories and both can have valid points and facts that agree with their theory. I mean I've hear people entertain the idea that we actually aren't here. That we are all simulations in a program, essentially and experiment in a petri dish.

Brane worlds. Extra dimensions. Dark energy. Dark matter. The expanding universe. String theory. Just a few of the things, in no particular order, that are studied every day where I work. I've been recording and posting lectures about this stuff for the last 20 years. I get to ask people like Peter Higgs about the Higgs particle or as Leon Lederman called it "the god particle". I've talked to Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan and the list goes on. It's humbling and facinating. If I'm lucky some of this will rub off on me by the time I retire.

Watching shows on extra dimensions and the time / space relationship always facinates me

Im thinking about buying "A Brief History of Time" and "The Universe in a Nutshell." They both look like great reads

Yet another reason why I'm glad Lee Raymond left XOM. That guy was something else.

I could study up on string theory all day long. Really interesting.

Also there is a nifty video I saw on YouTube a while back about cold fusion. Pretty crazy stuff right there. I think the vid was called fire from water. Worth taking a look if you're interested.

I'm pretty sure they made one of these into a show.

They made a brief history of time into a movie in the early 90's but it was about Stephan Hawkings life.

Cold fusion is nothing but a scam. It's well beyond our technology at this time, as is controlled hot fusion. it's only recently that more energy was created, than was injected to start the hot fusion reactions. We are many years away from commercial power from controlled fusion.

Just wondering how it's a scam if you then go on to say we are many years away from it

    Isn't that called research ?

I know. I take it for granted at times. Then I'll listen to some lecture and be reminded how lucky I really am to work with and get to know these people. I'm watching Carl Sagan hosting Cosmos from 1980 right now.
