    Income is reported to the gov't. If they sent you a W2, they sent that info to the IRS. To not report it would be an automatic flag. You WILL get charged the difference.

    The only thing you can do is pay it now, or pay later with possible penalties tacked on.

    lol. everyone has a different definition of fair.


    just claim what you need to claim. the penalties & fees will outweigh what you are trying to scam out of. Plus it could take several years for them to call on you an start asking questions.


    it's really not worth it.

    Everything is computerized. All of your W-2s (and other forms) get sent to the IRS. That information gets compared to your return. If they don't match you will have an issue. This isn't always real time, if you file early the IRS might not have all of your wage info...or perhaps they do, and you will get a letter saying we processed your return but the way we calculate your refund it is going to be less.

    You didn't get screwed out of any money. There is no such thing as a max refund or a refund you deserve. There is a refund amount you are legally entitled to (or amount you have to pay), nothing more nothing less. In this situation the best way to look at it is you kept the IRS from having an interest free loan from you.

    ok ok... so i did it the proper way and it turns out it didnt matter...

    after i entered in my school expenses for my CDL im now getting back $3,500
