I ordered a Tacoma in November and it's taken this long to arrive. Scheduled delivery date is 2/15. Today, my department was whacked and the whole department was consolidated with Canada, and myself and two other people were kept on for 45 days to transition all of the engines to the other shop. I was told they were going to do everything within their power to get me a job within another business unit within those 45 days, but without a guarantee of a job, I'm going to have to cancel my order.

Maybe it's a good thing it took so long for the order to come through, or maybe it's a sign that I'm not supposed to have a Tacoma.

I guess at least I have a job for 6 more weeks

    How old are you?

How much cash were you going to put into the new Tacoma?

    30. I was putting down about 7 grand and trading in my Mustang. I think it'd be smarter to hang on to that 7 grand just in case

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Canadian dollar's recent 10 cent drop

Why did that happen? What is going down in Canada?

It's just an equalization to where the dollar should probably be , it's a mixed bag as it hurts consumers but benefits Canadian exporters

No idea why they did it but I've heard they wanted to consolidate the service centers in WPG to save money. Apparently the company direction is to take us to an IPO and increase sales from 1.7B to 2.0B in less than two years. Apparently one of the first moves you make when increasing revenue is to reduce cost. I'm just a dumb engineer so I don't understand all the financials and business crap. Apparently consolidating the PT6 engine line all in WPG cuts out some cost for those of us who were stationed in Maryville TN.

At the end of the day, I guess I get 45 extra days to look for a job with the possibility of crossing over to another engine line here at the Maryville facility (AE3007, CF34, APU, etc).

It just sucks to be prudent and cancel the truck, but I guess I could have worse problems.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Standard Aero is a pretty significant company up there. Wanna play hockey year round? See if they won't give ya a job in Winterpeg. It is no coincidence that the hockey team is named after a type of airplane.

I wouldn't mind a move up North. More snow and maple syrup on everything. Sounds like a win win.

But, good luck in your job search, I am sure good things will come your way. Keep your head up.
