So I am sitting in my truck waiting for my wife and MIL, and a Mitsubishi Eclipse pulled up next to me. A woman got out of the driver side and two kids crawl out of the passenger side. No big deal. A few minutes later they come back out, the little girl throws the door open right into my truck. I jump out, and look. Tiny mark in my front fender flare. The woman looks across her car and says "what?" I say your kid just doored my truck, she comes around and looks and asked, that happened just now?, and I say yes, then she says you can hardly see it, what's the big f-ing deal? I say hardly see it or not it wasn't there before your kid opened her door into my truck. She says oh well, gets in her shitbox and drives off. WTF?? The mark really is tiny, like once I wash and dry it, it will be gone. Had she apologized, I would let it go. But she was a royal bitch. So what can/should I do? I got make model and license. I wanted to call the cops, but I feel like this is a huge waste of time for LEO. I also wanted to door her crap, or kick the rear fender in, but that's not the kind of person I am.
So much for sliders protecting from door dings.
    Sorry, rant off now.

You off road it, it gets scratched and dinged. It's a truck.

If I only had a basement, all my problems would be solved. It just scraped the clear, it didn't even really get into the paint.
And those scratches I have put on it, I am not a bit bent about, but carelessness, and blatant disregard for someone else's property pisses me off.

I understand, but there's no way you can prove that she did it even if you did get legal involved. Some people just don't give a crap about other peoples property.

Find out where she lives and pour water in her gas tank.

Thats too cruel, may as well just rub it out with some cleaner wax and park farther away next time.

should have asked her for her insurance info etc...probably would have scared the crap out of her, you may not have planned on doing anything with it, probably would have been worth it to make her sweat for it

This same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. The only difference is that the guy and his wife were very cooperative and polite. They gave me their ccontact info and told me that if I feel that it's worth fixing then give them a call and they would pay for it. I took the truck home and inspected the ding and it didn't go through the clear so I didn't call the couple back. Had they been like the lady that dinged your truck I would have definitely tried to get them to fix it. My truck had zero dings or scratches before this.

It does suck that there's so much "leg work" to do to get the the lady to fix your dent. You would have to spend a lot of your time trying to get that bitch to own up to what her kids did.

I would have opened the door in question from her car and touched the mark to prove to her that it was her door.... hopefully it would have lined up to the mark.

That sucks man. I had a old woman do that to me once. No damage when I got out to look but I told her to be a little more careful next time. She looked at me and said "it's just a truck?" I told her that this "TRUCK" probably cost twice as much as the piece of shit your driving! Childish of me I know but it made me feel better at the time.

    On a side note:

People that double park close to the entrance of the store is a pet peeve of mine. I give zero fucks if they do it way out in the parking lot where no one parks (especially if it's a nice car or truck) because I understand wanting to keep it ding free as long as possible. But those that do it up close... I usually leave a note on the windshield that say's "Hope you don't fuck like you park, You'd never get it in".

    On a side note 2:

I got into it with a guy in a Lowe's parking lot once. I was turning in to the parking lot and I accidentally pulled in front of him coming the opposite direction. Completely my fault. I pulled into the parking place and he was behind me and I was going to apologize for cutting him off. This old man commenced to ripping my ass because I cut him off. I walked to his truck and told him "I was going to apologize for cutting you off because it was completely my fault but now that you've done that.... I'm not apologizing for a Goddamn thing! You can suck a dick!". I turned and walked away thinking to myself.... "please don't have a gun... please don't have a gun... please don't have a fucking gun!"

I probably would have gotten her plate number and called the po po for hit and run........... she did hit your truck and leave without filling out a report or at least got her insurance information and called her insurance for a repair.

I park so far away it makes my family mad having to walk and no matter how far away it is some shitbag is going to pull up beside me. I look my truck over each time I leave a parking lot. 98% of the damage to my truck has come from other people hitting my truck.

Man... I couldn't agree with you more. We park way out in BFE but my wife does the same so she never complains.

I constantly park in left field but there are times when you have to park in with the "herd"... I have one small dink which was why I got side steps in the first place but this dink blew that theory out of the water. I don't understand peoples mentality of just opening the door and letting it slam into someone else's car!

I fucking hate this comment. "It's a truck" Just because it is a Truck, does it mean that it should be treated like a POS? FUCK NO! I like my truck to look nice. I just wish others could understand this.

This! Why is it so hard to have some respect for others and their property?
