Interesting. Kind of sucks, but I'll likely still subscribe. For me I prefer so much stuff I'm sure it pays for itself in shipping costs alone.

Yeah, I got that same email this morning. I'm not thrilled, but I'll still probably renew my subscription. I order enough stuff that even at $100 it's still paying for itself, between the discounts and the free shipping.

I also do a lot of shopping around before I order stuff, and Amazon is typically quite a bit cheaper. For instance, I ordered a set of manual locking hubs for my Plow truck yesterday that are $50 cheaper from Amazon than from anybody else, with free shipping. That's halfway to paying for the membership right there. Plus last week I ordered a pair of motorcycle tires that again were $20-30 cheaper per tire through Amazon, again with free shipping. It's probably not worth it for some people, but it is for me.

I may cancel mine and just keep track of all my Amazon shipments and see if it does/doesn't save me money.

My Amazon student went up to $49 for the year. Not sure what it was before, but that's still a deal to get things in 2 days. Amazon is great.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I saw. But I am still going to keep mine. I like the fast shipping that come with many of the items I purchase. And since I do not have cable TV, their Instant Video is a great supplement along with Netflix. Plus, both my family and my girlfriend uses my account for purchases as well.

It's only about $10 more and it's been good to me so I plan on keeping it.

Eh ever since they started charging taxes for NC, I slowly have begun to stop ordering from Amazon. Besides these days I really only order big items such car parts.

It's worth it. Less than $1 dollar a Month more and your complaining? I save that with the amount of money I save for over night shipping + the movies I watch.

Buy the gift for yourself now and set it to activate when your prime expires. Get another year for 70$ :)

I just got mine in December and I been using it for the online streaming movies and tv shows, been great so far. I am pretty sure I will get my monies worth out of it just in movies and shows the family can watch. I don't like price hikes, but I think i will keep it next year! That's my two cents!

Just a bunch of old crap
In the past 3 years I've had over 200 orders from Amazon (106 orders in 2012 alone, and over 80 last year) and 99% of them were prime. It has saved me THOUSANDS in shipping costs, if you count up every shipment at the 2-day rate that you're getting for free. I also have 2 warehouses in the PHX area so I get some stuff same-day. Even if they charged $200 a year, I'd save tons of money. My renewal comes up in May and I'll definitely pony up the extra $20. If you order even 10 things from Amazon a year, it already pays for itself plus you get all the free streaming crap.

I just dont order enough stuff to justify it anymore. We also use neflix for videos, more selection than Amazon.

saw that too. i'm 90% sure i'll keep my prime but a part of me considered canceling it. personally, if you spread out the extra costs over the year then it's not too bad plus i use Amazon ALL the time. i tend to look for stuff on amazon first and price check and usually with the free 2-day shipping, amazon ends up being the best deal and im extremely impatient, haha.

They got sued, so now they are making their customers help pay for the law suit.

The argument is pretty straight forward. Amazon customers pay $79 a year for Amazon Prime, which gives members free two-day shipping on Prime-Eligible products. Amazon is being accused of encouraging vendors, who use Amazon to ship its items (referred to as Fulfillment by Amazon or FBA), of marking up the prices of these items to ultimately include shipping charges. Further, Amazon allegedly then gives these vendors priority by showing their items first in the Prime Member’s product search results.
By raising the price of the product, the lawsuit contends that Amazon is able to recoup the cost of shipping because it receives a percentage of the product’s price.
    http://www.geekwire.com/2014/lawsui...e-third-party-prices-inflated-cover-shipping/

Some people will drop their membership but Im sure I will still remain a member, I order enough to justify the price hike.

But, if another company opens up that offers the same service for less they will lose me as a customer along with many others.
