So you are okay with a wife having to take care of the kids for 13 years and all his employees (if he has some) losing their jobs? for something that happened 13 years ago when he was younger?

How are you still overlooking the fact that prison is for correctuons . in this case after all this the consequences should not be time it should be taxes or community service. I agree with the fact he should not just get away Scott free but prison is not the best route in this case

Mark to answer your question, I don't know what the statute of limitations is in his state for armed robbery.

Now I'll throw in a curve ball. Another real life deal I was involved with but only on the far fringes.

I was a System Operations Control Manager at a major US airline in the early 2000s. We had a flight operating from Los Vegas to Chicago when a lady on the aircraft recognized a guy that had raped her something like 15 years prior. She was terrified during the entire flight having watched him board the aircraft at LAS. He had never been apprehended.

During the flight she passed along to the crew that the man had raped her and was wanted for raping her. The crew called in and we contacted airline security & the police. Upon landing at ORD, the passengers were instructed to remain seated while the police boarded the aircraft and took the man into custody.

As it turns out they no longer lived in the same city but were to connect at ORD for the rest of both their flights.

I followed the case out of interest and the perpetrator was convicted. He had the same type of defense as the thread subject in that he had lived a normal, productive life and said he was young, going through a rough time ect. If course all I got is what I could search out on line but other than the actual crime of rape vs. armed robbery the cases bare remarkable similarities in that both stayed out of jail for an extended period and supposedly lived productive lives since their crimes. Other than when they were convicted (early or late) and when they served time relative to that conviction (immediately vs 13 years after conviction) both had lived normal lives.

I have to ask, would it have been okay to have not prosecuted the guy who raped this woman? Should he have went to trial but not sent to prison upon convention because he showed nothing else on his criminal record?

That said, I'd be embarrassed to claim any affiliation with either the republicans or democrates. Just sayin...

Pay for time missed in a sense. Maybe pay up like 50000-100000 for it help the deficit and has to pay for his crimes in a sense. although i can see that being as a defense for others to pay as well

What happened in this situation is what every modern prison system should be aiming for. He ended up a contributing member of society. That is a hell of a lot more than can be said for 90%+ people who get thrown into criminal university.

Make him pay back what he stole instead of throwing him in prison for no reason at this point.
