103 Year Old Orca Whale Spotted Off Canada

That is one old whale!

 

I don't know if it's just me, but I was amazed on how little I truly knew about SeaWorld's horrible practices after watching "Black Fish" on Netflix... This just adds to it.

 

Feel horribly guilty, and suckered, for taking our kids to Sea World in 1992. I was so ignorant of what Sea World was doing to these creatures. Now, having seen them in their natural environment, the cruelness of Sea World's practice is glaringly obvious.

 

Seeing Orcas in the wild is amazing , the Blackfish documentary made me wanna puke , Seaworld is a sensory deprevation experiment for intelligent animals

 

Blackfish made me glad i didn't vist sea world when i had the chance, they are abusing mother nature for a profit at the expense of these intelligent animals.

Good find Bob, They are truly powerful,intelligent animals that need to be admired, not forced to perform tricks in front of paying spectators.

 

Granny is from J pod which is the one that is the resident pod where I live , I've seen them probably twenty times in the waters here , once the whole pod swam around and under our 14' aluminum boat when my BIL and I were salmon fishing

Wow.. What was that like? I would have been slightly amazed and freaking out.

 

Blackfish opened my eyes to something that in my heart I knew was WRONG. All wales are highly intelligent animals, they must be in eternal misery caged up like that. No where to run wen being attacked, no new enviornments, no nothing.

 

It was awesome

 

I also got to see 4 transients beach and attack a Minke whale for about 1 1/2 hours as the tide was coming in from about 50' away , that was the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed

 

Man, that sounds amazing, i'd be freakin amazed.

 

You guys know that Blackfish was specifically engineered to make people angry. If you research the movie, you'll find that very few things were actually true, and the way the movie was put together was put in a way to only get across what the movie producers wanted you to know

 

Beautiful. I have always loved Orcas since I was a kid. Seeing Blackfish was unsettling. I mean, I knew it was wrong to have killer whales for entertainment purposes, but didn't know everything else that Sea World was doing to these amazing creatures. I hope to see a day in the near future when Sea World no longer has Orcas in captivity.

 

The movie just highlights what most people are already feeling about animals in captivity. Regardless of what Sea World says, it's not okay to enslave them and reproduce them for entertainment value.

 

Irrelevant to the FACT that keeping Orcas in bathtubs is sensory deprivation
