None the less. It cuts the costs of employee benefits and obligations by the employer. Especially if that particular company/business can setup a national call center in a state that has a low minimum wage.

Nah - I'm from Northern BC where we tend to be very non-commie (except for the single payer healthcare - love that - my son cut his hand this morning - seven stitches - went to the hospital - immediate care - all paid by my taxes -awesome). I admit that there are a lot of my southern BCers who have a fluffy world view that tends to lack much common sense...

 

Fast food is not the only places that pay low wages. I worked for a call center in the 90s making a 6.10 an hour when the minimum wage was 5.15. About 5 years down the road all those jobs moved overseas because it was cheaper to do so.

Manufacturing jobs will take a hit as well. I have friends that work in the industry that make 10 or 11 bucks an hour. Now you raise that by four more bucks an hour and the possibility of being able to ship something overseas to be manufactured then shipped back for sales increases.

Just a small thought.

and you don't think someone in a manufacturing job should be making more than $10 / hour ?

 

10 bucks an hour is nowhere enough to make the American Dream happen, anywhere in the States.
