well maybe the news crew shouldn't have been playing with african shit, embalming dead people, having sex with infected people, or eating ebola carrot cake... Oh thats right, they probably weren't. They were there to report on the situation, not help. They were probably doing quite a bit more to avoid contact than most the people over there. That means it might be a little easier to transmit than people are being led to believe.

Everything i've read has said that it is definitely transmitted by feces, blood, and semen. A lot of what I have read said officials are not sure whether or not it can be spread by sweat, saliva, or tears. If it can be then we are potentially in very deep trouble. That would mean it would be as easy to spread as the flu, except 50-70% of the people who get it will die. Then there is the even scarier prospect of mutation. Every time the virus is transmitted it risks mutation, so even if it is not airborne currently, it could become so at anytime. Even the UN has said this is of major concern to them.

Reminds me of the movie Contagion. I know its just a movie. But makes you think. How easily that shit could spread.

The vaccine for ebola is made from special tobacco leaves grown in Owensboro Ky. Hooray for the bluegrass state.

So now they are saying possible criminal charges could be placed in Libya (or whatever country he boarded the plane in) because he lied on his pre boarding questions about possibly having ebola.

The question was if he had come in contact with anyone that had ebola I think within the last 20 days. He answered no. Which was a lie. I'm sure just so he could get on the plane.

So there should be criminal charges of some type. He obviously didn't give a shit about anyone but himself.

Let 'em hype. I'm sure that the NBC photojournalist that contracted it was taking precautions and still became infected. We need to isolate Liberia now. Only military flights in or out.

Can you imagine what would happen if an infected person got off a plane in Mexico and went undetected for a few weeks? You think we have a border problem now..... This is zombie apocalypse stuff.

Just a thought , if you only isolated Liberia , wouldn't that leave the other countries in West Africa that have Ebola cases open to spread the problem ?

Yes - expand that to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. This virus in the past has burned itself out in a few weeks when hitting smaller communities. It's now in large population centers with access to airport hubs around the world.

This is the Zaire strain, and it has evolved. This outbreak has killed more than all other outbreaks of all strains combined, times two. I do not think that is because of where the outbreak occurred, I think it is because the virus evolved.

Zaire is the oldest strain of Ebola. It hasn't "evolved". Minor sequence changes, yes, but that's normal.

They also just said on the news cast if someone coughs on you and they have ebola you can get it. Is that considered airborne at that point?

Ok, just think about the spreading issue. There is very little opportunity to wash your fucking hands in that place. Therefore, bio fluids are bound to be on just about everything. Here's a few likely sources: Random sneezing leading to snot going in a mist through the air, bloody noses dripping all over the ground and carpets, improper wiping, improper cleaning of babies, stepping in random shit, bad choice in sex partner, lack of sewers, lack of any real health practices, eating taint, oh sorry, eating tainted food, getting spat and puked on, taking golden showers, using public toilet seats, handling corpses, drinking tainted water, reusing & sharing needles, sharing a drink, picking your nose and wiping it on a railing. Have we over speculated on this fucking thing, or what? :p
