So apparently the military decided to auction off their humvees instead of scrapping them.

I don't know about you, but this excites me! Talk about one vehicle that can take some beating around on the trail and come out ok, although the ride may be a little stiff.

They are not great on trails unless they are wide open. The hummer is so wide and not very maneuverable. I was in a volunteer fire department and we had an old 50s or 60s dodge power wagon converted to a forestry truck that was a great trail rig. Nice and small. Narrow. Short wheel base. It was underpowered but made up for that with its maneuverability. A neighboring dept had an H1 hummer forestry truck that really couldn't go anywhere. I drove around it several times fighting fires in the woods. plus they were afraid of scratching it up haha.

Light skinned HMMWVs do great in the mud and can climb damn near anything they can fit up. Not fun to drive on tight trails.

Not fun to drive really at all. Poor visibility, few creature comforts, and they tend to leak when it rains.

I'd buy one for $3,000. Not the $10,000+ they're going for right now.

A little of this and a little of that.
No thanks. 10 grand, no title, and have to sign documents specifying exactly how they'll be used. Not for me.

It's true about being too wide for trails. I've got the taco for that. We have a lot of wide open spaces around here and an offroad park with tons of boulders and mud. Would be a blast for that. We have a lot of terraces on our farm the drop off into dried up ponds. Would be fun to see how it does there. $10k is for sure too much though.

I've got about 100k on my backside either driving or riding shotgun in old HMMWV's. If I never get near another one again, it will be entirely too soon. Didn't like them when I was in, don't understand why people are attracted to them.

For me it's the aspect of being able to tear into stuff and not have a fiberglass panel crack into 1000 pieces.

That's a plus. Plus the 5 foot snorkel. And lets face it, if the chairs suck, they can probably be replaced or improved upon.

I mean, it probably still stinks and sucks gas like a black hole. But it's got more 'cool' factor than most other trucks in the civilian world.

They don't have keys. So you'll have to lock it with a chain. Ride horribly and are beat to death. I think rental cars are treated nicer then those ever were. I still cringe when I see a deuce and a half.

Arb front bumper, warn winch, All Pro rear bumper, OME up front, OME and All Pro Standard in Back, ARB locker, 34 x 10.5 KO2's, 17" Level 8 Trackers, and fancy single piece driveshaft.
They have another 4000 to sell. The first batch or two will get high prices, and then they will drop. I don't really think there are 4000 people who want one at $10k or more.
