60" Hi Lift Jack Troubles. Assistance.

    Well My brother purchased a hi lift jack some 4 yrs ago put it in his bronco and never used it. I asked to buy it from him and he gave it to me. It jacks up fine but I can't get it to move freely. As in if it were all the way down and I wanted to slide it up with out jacking to say a receiver hitch. Included are some pics of the mechanism, maybe I am just doing something wrong.

    Here is what I am doing: as stated on the jack handle I keep the bar up right with the Mechanism in the up position then I grab the handle and slide the jack up to where I need it. Then begin jacking the truck up.
    That doesn't happen. I have also moved the mech. to the down position but nothing happens I know it doesn't lower because you need some 100+ pounds on it to lower while jacking but I was trying anything to get this bad boy to work.

    For 12 bucks thats not a bad repair kit. The only problem is that it does everything fine I lifted and lowered my truck just had to jack it up to the hitch. If lube doesn't work I'll go that route. Thanks mjp and Silverback

    I went ahead and ordered the repair kit. Still playing with it though no luck yet.

    You'll be pleased once you get it. Takes about 10 minutes to install and the jack will literally perform like it's brand new.

    You'll need a hammer and punch to pop the old pins out and the new pins in, but that's as hard as the job gets.

    I unloaded a can of WD-40, She works like a charm, i'll keep the repair kit for incase. Thanks guys. I was about to give up but decided to spray the rest of the can and wait. Went back and it worked.

    getting there....
    also, to keep it lubed.......a dry moly lube or white lithium grease works well, will keep it lubed...cause that stuff doesnt drip or sling off, and it'll repel dirt and crap from sitting in the mechanical parts of the jack.
