Looks like a dog to me. Chart it against the S&P500 in that timeframe and I'll guess it gets crushed.

In comparison yes, but in the last 5 years it has increased rather well overall.

This is true, but imagine 5 years from now, especially with all of their research in electric vehicles.

    P/E not bad.
Not a world beater, but a decent steady performer.
Instead of Toyota, look down the supply chain and consider the component suppliers.

    I like boring stocks.
    Bricks, underwear, sausages.
Did pretty good this year as things go.
Jimmy Dean was very good to me this year! :D

For long term I like buying poor performing bloated conglomerates of mismatched 3rd or 4th tier companies.
Sooner or later they start selling and spinning off stuff.
Just like yard sales you do okay on the junk.
And the good stuff rolls in premium bucks.
Sara Lee's breakup filled my pockets about 6 different times.

But I'm just a little feller.

And the S&Ps return in the last 5 years was......? My guess is still better.

That's probably not that unlikely. I should compare TM and GM side by side, stock wise that is. Obviously not product wise

gm is pretty low, a year or twon they were only 35bux, in fact they lost the taxpayers lots of money with the gm stock scandal.... but when you make trash no1 wants to invest in you. Toyota has invested more in the US than the big three for the last 10 years, and they bring plenty of good jobs, and have the most reliable vehicles.... so investors want in on Toyota.

So you think TM would be a good bet? I'm leaning towards it more and more. Plus I am interested to see if the '16 Tacoma increases revenue significantly.

Buy it now and keep it for the long haul. It has always been a slow and steady stock if you look at it in that perspective.

This is true as well. Never in its history has there been a significant drop in value.
