Or contact your ISP for the mac address. They should be able to give it to you since it will be your own address

    TW is awesome.

Make a post about getting ripped off, and the TW community jumps to action.

Picture this: Dude logs on somewhere with your computer, and a bunch of modded out Tacos roll up out of nowhere.

I hate it for you OP. There isn't much in this world worse than a theif. Got a call yesterday about my check card. A $50 and $13 "craigslist.org" charge from San Fran Sisco and Bakersfield. Made my stomach turn. Going to change accounts tomorrow. Such a dang hassle to have to through everything.

First, do you have the serial number of the MacBook? I hope you have some documentation or a receipt from then you bought it or it's written down.

Did you wipe the Mac and send it with a fresh os install?

If you've got documentation of the purchase and serial immediately file a police report and contact Apple. When the device updates the os it'll have to verify the hardware and I would imagine Apple would be able to track the device.

I know about MAC addresses but I'm not sure how you'll be able to track that down over the billions of connected devices world wide.

OP - If you didn't wipe it, and if you enabled Find My Mac you might be able to see it here displayed on a map: https://www.icloud.com/#find

From that site you can request erase, bricks the machine if it goes on a network under your Apple ID.

    Lots of ifs. Good luck!

I dont have the serial number, I sent the Original receipt with it as it still was under warranty.
The mac was wiped clean, It was only a month or 2 old.
It was a macbook pro 15" 2.8 ghz with retina display.
He filed a claim, This is what he said:
item is fake there s no macbook, just food tapes and newspapers, and the weight of the package as per postal receipt and actually is 9.5 lbs but packed macbook weight is around 7.5 lbs, so the seller know that he shipped fake

Funny thing is i didnt just ship him a macbook in its original box, I went out of my way to buy a bigger heavy duty box, and i stuffed 4 or 5 whole news papers in it!
Even thou i only charged him shipping on the size/weight of the macbook in original box. Here i thought i was giving him a deal and being a good seller , the fucker pulls this shit on me!

Well, I think you've been scammed.

    Sorry about your luck.

Edit: if Apple has a record of the purchase you made then you should be able to get the serial number that way. It may be tough to get and some validation on your part to prove to Apple that you actually purchased it.

Wish you luck man but it's going to be tough to track down.

Go through seller protection and add a picture of the receipt showing the weight of the box. Then find the weight of your macbook.

How many rep points does the guy have?

You have a photo of the original receipt with YOUR info?

Contact Apple, see if they can help, like Blackout said.

Yea I didn't even think of it. If I knew anything was gonna be crazy like this I would have documented it all much better. Honestly when he sent the payment paypal had to review it so I was all freaked out and I thought I was getting ripped off for the money. Now I'm getting ripped off for the Mac and money.....
Hey maybe a member lives close and can go do some investigating hahahah

I sold a phone on ebay recently and the buyer claimed the charging port didn't work. I asked for pictures and he sent questionable ones.

He bought the phone for 50 and said a tech could install a port for 30$. He "liked" the phone and didn't mind putting 60% of the purchase price into fixing it when he could get a new one for 70. Yeah ok......

Well I have pictures of the Phone inside and out, and a screen shot of it with the charging symbol. How ever not one of it actually charging.

When I asked for more details and better pictures the buyers got all defensive and left my neg rep and opened a claim against me. Ebay sides with me.

Rules with ebay...cover your butt with way more pictures that you think you need. Track/insure all packages and document everything.

For the buyer to say it's empty is pretty bold. Usually they will claim something small. Since this claim will be so black and white, and you have the shipping receipt that will show the weight I'm sure ebay will side with you.....because the box was either full or empty.....no real in between.

Oh man that's not good. We'll it makes me feel a little bit better. I'm hoping they side with me. I wouldn't be to upset if it was something cheaper but it's over 2000 us dollars which is like 3000 to me so pretty serious!
